CultureHow’s It Going?: Normalcy Edition
It’s Monday—they’re still making those, I guess. Welcome back to our daily open thread. I’ve been rewatching The Leftovers, because people keep talking about doing that on Twitter. I watched it a couple years ago, but it’s a pretty different experience given everything that’s going on in the world. Our current context has made the…

UncategorizedRetro Nintendo Games Come To Life With A Violin
Of course, violins are used in making modern game music, but I didn’t know how good the instrument was at bringing to life retro game scores. YouTuber Teppei Okada has been playing game scores on the violin, such as F-Zero. Super Mario Bros. The Legend of Zelda. What makes his covers so cool is that…

UncategorizedA local ordinance in Kagawa Prefecture asks gaming to be limited to an hour a day during the week and 90 minutes on holidays. UncategorizedMadden Bowl Winner Didn’t Use A QB, Or Throw A Single Pass
The 2020 Madden Bowl, EA’s big official championship for its long-running football series, was won last week by a player who didn’t throw a pass for the entire tournament, or even put a recognised QB under centre. If you know football, you will know that is messed up! It’s one thing to favour a running…

UncategorizedThe Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 Soundtrack, Ranked
Vice City might have the best licensed soundtrack of all time, but I think Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 comes in a very close second. Released 20 years ago, the game didn’t just ship with a whole bunch of famous skaters on the roster (and be an excellent sports title in its own right), but…

The Blacklist, a TV show on NBC, aired its season 7 finale on Friday night.
