A God Of War Fan Has Sketched Out A Sequel

God of War fan (and professional games artist) Yong Yi Lee has some ideas for a God of War sequel, and instead of writing them down in an overly-long Reddit/Tumblr post, has instead sketched it out. The gist: Kratos seems upset and is caught up in Ragnarök, and has to kill a lot of Gods.…

Overwatch vs Team Fortress 2, A Battle To The Death

Overwatch’s rivalry with Team Fortress 2 is about to be settled once and for all, not the on the battlefield, but on a battlefield in Source Filmmaker. This was made by animator The Winglet, and is truly something. I’m years past getting any of the TF2 jokes, for example, and still found the whole thing…

The Women’s World Cup Video Game Experience Is Sadly Half-Assed

The Women’s World Cup has brought together the best teams and players from across the planet, all in the name of some fantastic football (and nightmarish VAR). You might think that, with the eyes of the world upon France and the women’s game, that it would be a good time for EA to replicate what…

It’s OK To Not Like Evangelion

A couple of months ago, I found myself in a drunken argument about Neon Genesis Evangelion. We were standing on an otherwise empty street outside an apartment complex in Brooklyn at around 10 p.m. last May. I had only seen half of Evangelion’s 26-episode run, at which point I had decided that Gainax’s classic coming-of-age…

Banned From The Chinese Internet, LGBT Fanfiction Writers Find New Home On U.S. Website

In China, writing fanfiction can be dangerous. In the United States, although some authors used to be pretty litigious towards derivative works, fanfiction writers here don’t usually have to worry about anything more serious than a cease and desist. In China, creating fanworks can sometimes come with significant legal consequences, especially if what you’re writing…

The Creator Of Yakuza And Judgment Brutally Owned My Haircut

At E3, I had an opportunity to sit down with Toshihiro Nagoshi, chief creative officer of Sega and the director of both the Yakuza games and the upcoming not-exactly-a-spinoff game Judgment for a half an hour. Basking in the chance to ask my personal favorite industry luminary anything I wanted, I of course inquired about…
