Pogostuck Is The Latest Game To Make Twitch Streamers Rage

On the internet, everybody is angry all the time. The 2017 release of Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy, then, marked a special occasion: a time when everybody on the internet was mad at the same thing. Pogostuck is trying to replicate that feat. Pogostuck, a game whose store page unabashedly says it’s inspired by…

The Internet, And Sonic’s Creator, React To Sonic’s Movie Design

We now live in a post-Sonic the Hedgehog-movie-render world. Sonic the Hedgehog does not resemble a hedgehog in the slightest, and I’d argue he is more recognizable because of it. He’s a blue ball with spikes on his head, skinny legs, conjoined eyeballs, and sneakers. In the upcoming Sonic movie, he (probably) looks like this…

I Wish This Charming Anime Game Wasn’t A Roguelike

RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore is a game filled with things I love. An unlikely anime hero finds herself in a magical world, where she must defeat mechanical creatures using ridiculous weapons. Oh, and the robots drop snacks when they die. It would be a perfect game if only it didn’t have…

The New Queer Tropes In Video Games Series Is Tired, But Sadly, Still Relevant

For the sake of making their games more realistic, video game developers have done extensive research on all sorts of random or mundane things: parasitic fungi, game theory, gun sounds, paleobotany, and breast physics are just a few. Some of these subjects no doubt required expert commentary, academic research, and a genuine dedication of time…

Track: Caveat Lector | Artist: A Novelist | Album: Folie

Jack Black finally did an actual Let’s Play on his “gaming”-free YouTube gaming channel. The game? Brutal Legend, known for its excellent heavy metal soundtrack and—oh yeah—a main character played by Jack Black. Black’s play session is brief, but entertaining. Also confusing, because which one is the real Jack Black???

We’re Excited To See What Google’s Project Stream Can Do

Is video game streaming going to change the industry as we know it? On Kotaku Splitscreen we discuss that question and much more. Kirk was on jury duty last week, so Maddy and I recorded and edited the show all by ourselves like grown adults. First we talk about Bloodborne, Danganronpa, beloved Nintendo of America…

Kingdom Hearts III‘s Best Moment Is Everything Good (And Bad) About Kingdom Hearts

I was on vacation last week. In addition to wandering New York and enjoying some of the finest pizza on the planet, I finally finished Kingdom Hearts III. In the process, I found a moment near the end of the game that perfectly captures the series’ magic and excitement. It also highlights one of Kingdom…

The Week In Games: Time To Kill Some Demons!

Devil May Cry 5 is almost here and ready to slice up some demons. I played the demo and had a good time. I’ve never been a huge Devil May Cry fan, but I might check this latest game out. I like games where I can grab arms and use them as weapons! I feel…
