DISCLAIMER: this isn't exactly a scientific study. And it's only for Australia. But I know there are some of you who quiver with delight at the thought of statistics, so this one's for you.
SCE Australia have taken a quick look at how many free copies of Casino Royale they've offloaded to early PS3 adopters (you had to register online to receive one) and have come up with a rough figure of how many local PS3s are online. Seems it's 35%. SCE Aus boss Michael Ephraim first dropped the stat last week, and Sony have just confirmed it with us:
The figure is a loose extrapolation of the Casino Royale Blu-ray discs picked up, in Australia, post online registration. At this stage, we are not currently in the position to track or provide a more substantial figure.
Course, the figure won't include people who thought Casino Royale was a bit shit, so I'd maybe nudge it up closer to 40%.
