Are Ultra Beasts…

Yesterday, Wizards of the Coast released their latest Dungeons & Dragons adventure for 5th edition: Storm King’s Thunder. In it, players seek out the storm giant King Hekaton, who until recently was keeping the hill giants in check. Now, they run wild, causing mayhem across the land: The humans, dwarves, elves, and other small folk…

Last weekend, when I visited famed horror writer H.P. Lovecraft’s grave in Providence, Rhode Island, I found these Magic: The Gathering cards leaned against his tombstone. Presumably a tribute to the novelist, whose tombstone reads “I am Providence,” these “Providence” cards say, “There is power in prayer, regardless of who is listening.” Lovecraft was an…

The footage shows a character (presumably player character Ryder) exploring a not-of-this-world cyberpunk ruin also known as a cave. The character uses a jetpack to aid mobility and scans objects like plants for…

Pokémon Go Will Be On Apple Watch By Year’s End

Since Pokémon Go launched earlier this year, smartwatch owners have been bemoaning the lack of a corresponding wrist app. Bemoan no more. During today’s Apple event, Pokémon Go support was announced for the Apple Watch. An Apple Watch owner myself, I’ve been keenly aware of the lack of Pokémon Go support, which seemed like such…

One highlight of PAX 2016 was Secret Legend, a Zelda-styled action-adventure made by a very small team of indie developers. It’s got a terrible title, but the animation is fantastic and it looks like a pleasant, serene adventure. The developers told us it’s very early, so don’t expect this one for a long time

No Man’s Sky Is A Surprisingly Good ASMR Game

No Man’s Sky is, to many, a disappointment. The planet exploration game has been deemed tedious, boring and repetitive in stark contrast to its pre-release hype as an endlessly exciting adventure across a randomly-generated galaxy. Luckily, its tedium is exactly the quality that’s made it perfect fodder for the ASMR community. On a frontier planet…

Indian Lawyer Calls Pokémon Go Eggs Blasphemous In Court

India boasts an enormous vegetarian population, a fact that has somehow come in conflict with Pokémon Go, not yet released there. Gujarat local Alay Dave is claiming in court that the app offends his, and other Indians’, religious sensibilities—in this case, vegetarianism. The issue boils down to one thing: eggs. “Those who succeed are rewarded…

Don’t Watch 50 Video Games Songs In 2 Minutes, Just Listen

YouTube guitarist FamilyJules7X enjoys making metal covers of his favorite video game themes, so he put together a medley of 50 rapid-fire clips that go by so fast it’s impossible to pick them all out. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. No peeking, now. Some video game themes are so iconic that even a few…

Black Ops III‘s New Micro-Map Is Full Of Amazing, Tiny Details

The biggest challenge in Micro, the “fun” multiplayer map in Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s final batch of downloadable content, is pulling yourself away from the massive cupcakes and copious amounts of alcohol long enough to shoot other people. Luckily it’s easy enough to create a custom game where you can explore the over-sized…

Theories About The Mysterious New Pokémon

The latest Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer features a rather unusual Pocket Monster, even by Pokémon standards, called “Type: Null.” There are already theories about what exactly is up with this Pokémon. Where to start? Type: Null is one odd name, there’s that medieval-looking thing it has going on, and it appears to be a…

A Tale Of Love On The Overwatch Battlefield

It was an Overwatch romance that was never meant to be, that nobody asked for. Her, a pro gamer turned mech pilot with attitude. Him, a cheap Party City Halloween costume possessed by someone’s dad. Both of them controlled by cruel gamer gods with a thirst that no amount of Mountain Dew could quench. They…
