Since Pokémon Go launched earlier this year, smartwatch owners have been bemoaning the lack of a corresponding wrist app. Bemoan no more. During today’s Apple event, Pokémon Go support was announced for the Apple Watch.
An Apple Watch owner myself, I’ve been keenly aware of the lack of Pokémon Go support, which seemed like such a no-brainer.Myself and other watch owners assumed Nintendo and Niantic were withholding smartwatch support in order to push their own Pokémon Go Plus accessory. Happy to be proven wrong.
Available before the holiday season kicks in, the Apple Watch extension of Pokémon Go will display nearby Pokémon, alert players when wild Pokémon appear for capture and monitor the distance required to walk in order to hatch eggs, all while tracking the user’s health information.
