Nerf Is Releasing Overwatch Guns
Blizzard and Nerf are going to release a couple of guns based on Overwatch, one being Reaper’s shotgun, the other D.Va’s pistol. They’re part of Nerf’s “Rivals” line, which is basically a series of guns made and marketed specifically at adults, and which fire small round projectiles (like squishy musketballs) instead of the traditional Nerf…

After Five Years, Super Smash Bros. Melee‘s Gods Get Toppled At Evo
The biggest question coming into Evo 2018’s Super Smash Bros. Melee competition is whether or not one of the game’s “gods” would win a sixth title in a row. And now, we have our answer: the gods are dead, long live Leffen. After an intense weekend of competition, eight competitors entered the Mandalay Bay Events…

Uncharted 4 In First Person Is Bonkers
Uncharted 4 obviously features Nathan Drake getting pulled back into the adventuring lifestyle (that’s, uh, the game), but the opening is a smattering of domestic moments with his wife Elena that sell that game’s emotional beats. It’s even better in first person. Modder thekempy has altered the emotional cutscene away from the limited 3rd person…

Evo 2018 Guilty Gear Finalist Makes It Further Than Any Other American Player Has In Years
At least one American player tends to make it to the Guilty Gear Xrd finals at the Evolution Championship Series, but that’s typically where their journeys end. Joshua “Zidane” Rodriguez and Kyohei “MarlinPie” Lehr achieved this feat in 2015 and 2017 respectively, only to both get knocked out after a single match. But at Evo…

Modder Turns Dark Souls Into A Bright Fantasy World
Dark Souls has a reputation as a dark fantasy game where women fused to demons, cannibal executioners, and zombified humans make their home. But it looks a little more like a fun place if you pump the brightness and change some of the lighting effects. The video spoils the entire game of Dark Souls. The…

Bayonetta Players Battle Through The Boos At Evo 2018’s Smash 4 Finals
Several Bayonetta players made it into the Super Smash Brothers 4 finals at Evo 2018 this year, although surprisingly, last year’s Evo winner and Bayonetta player Saleem “Salem” Akiel Young wasn’t one of them. Salem’s upset last year coincided with the longstanding debate over whether Bayonetta’s combo-linking abilities make her an unfair opponent, and after…

Two ‘Gods’ Of Melee Get Hit Hard By Mere Mortals In Evo 2018 Pools
On a good day, Super Smash Brothers: Melee champion Adam “Armada” Lindgren seems unbeatable. Last year, at Evo 2017, he took home the top prize for the second time at the world’s biggest fighting game event. This year, long before Top 8, he got knocked into the losers bracket by Melee up-and-comer James “Swedish Delight”…

Evo Sidelined Marvel Vs. Capcom Players But They Killed It Anyway
This year’s Evolution Championship Series is almost the same as last year: the Mandalay Bay Convention Center is still packed with countless setups, players reigniting friendships and rivalries, and clusters of attendees erupting into screams during exciting matches. But Evo 2018 has one glaring omission in its lineup of official events: Marvel vs. Capcom Marvel…

City Planner Caught Using Cities: Skylines Screenshot In Proposal
Cities: Skylines is a great city-building video game, and fans all over the world know it. It is not a hardcore city-planning simulator, but that didn’t stop one town development firm from using a screenshot in their brochure for a potential new town outside of Norfolk in the United Kingdom. In a wonderful article for…

Dead Or Alive 6 Is Less Sexualized, And More Esports
Despite offering a unique take on 3D fighting focused on counters and holds, the Dead or Alive franchise has never quite taken off within the fighting game community. It has a small but dedicated fanbase, but the game also struggles with public perception as the genre’s “boobie fighter” (probably thanks to old but memorable commercials…
