Warner Bros has once again delayed the release of The Batman Part II, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as Batman. The movie was set to arrive in 2025, then 2026, and then delayed until 2027, and is now arriving in 2028. Probably.

On July 15, as reported by Deadline, WB shuffled around some release dates for its upcoming slate of movies. J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sci-fi flick The Great Beyond starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega was moved from November to October 1, 2027. That was the date planned for The Batman Part II. So now it is being kicked back until February 18, 2028. This will place the Batman sequel, which started shooting last month, on the 4-day holiday weekend around Presidents’ Day, which could help increase its box office take.

As Deadline reported, The Batman Part II‘s production was delayed a few months, so this new, further-out date will give Reeves extra time in post-production. That’s nice for Reeves and should help ensure the film is worth the wait, but boy howdy has it been a long wait.

The Batman was released in theaters in 2022. Assuming The Batman Part II doesn’t get delayed again, when it arrives in February 2028, it will have been nearly six years since the original. In the world of modern superhero and franchise films, that’s an eternity. When the sequel arrives in 2028, it will have been nearly a decade since WB announced Pattinson as Batman. He was around 32 when he became Batman. He will be nearly 42 when the sequel arrives.

Not to be mean, but folks…it’s Batman. This isn’t rocket science. Why it’s taken this long to get everyone back together, get a script written, and film another Batman movie is beyond me. But when you are making a prestige superhero flick, I guess you can take your time.

The Batman Part II arrives in theaters on February 18, 2028. Maybe. Probably. Hopefully. We’ll see. Place your bets.
