Lords of the Fallen II had one of the biggest trailers coming out of Summer Game Fest. Wishlists on Steam began flooding in for the Soulslike’s fall 2026 release. But fans will now have to wait a bit longer for the latest action-RPG from CI Games. It’s just been delayed until early 2027 to get out of the way of Grand Theft Auto VI and the complete logjam of other releases in September and October.

“As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team,” studio CEO Marek Tyminski posted on X on June 23. “Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience.”

He continued:

These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch. This updated release window also strategically positions Lords of the Fallen II outside of a highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the dedicated attention it deserves. The team remains fully energized by the strong response to our recent reveals and is deeply focused on delivering a standout dark fantasy action RPG and a worthy successor to the Lords of the Fallen franchise. We are grateful for the continued passion, feedback, and support from our community, and we look forward to sharing more updates in the coming months.

While Tyminski didn’t elaborate on what improvements the team will be making to the game during this time, he did confirm that Lords of the Fallen II will now be shipping in the Q1 2027 release window. A gameplay trailer reveal at Summer Game Fest made a big splash at the showcase ahead of the game’s originally planned fall launch. CI Games never specified if it was originally planning to release the game in the earlier part of that season or closer to Christmas.

Both September and October are currently packed to the gills with big releases, while GTA 6 has November still mostly to itself (there are only a handful of other notable releases confirmed for that month at the moment). Lords of the Fallen II probably won’t be the last big game to bail out of this calendar year, but at this rate the first part of 2027 is going to be just as crammed.
