CultureHow’s It Going?: Pets Edition 2
It’s Monday. (That doesn’t warrant an exclamation point.) Welcome back to our open thread! (That does!) I hope your weekend was good. Big news in my life: I’m fostering a shelter dog! I’ve wanted a dog for years, and the New York City shelters are trying to get dogs into homes in light of covid-19.…

CultureThe Week In Games: A Red Letter Day
Well, it took a little longer than I had expected, but finally, a new Half-Life game, Half-Life: Alyx, is coming out this week. For most things, I can control myself. I love Star Wars, but I know that a lot of Star Wars books and games are mediocre at best. I love Star Trek, but…

OpinionImpressionsHow Dare You, Animal Crossing: New Horizons
As Kotaku’s resident arachnophobe, I find Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ handling of tarantulas, vis-a-vis forcing me to handle a tarantula, completely unacceptable. I do not do well with spiders. People tell me that I am a very large person and spiders are very small, but that just means more of them can fit on my…

In 2016, the Bleach manga ended after a 15-year-run. The original anime series had wrapped up a few years earlier in 2012, meaning that the animated series never concluded. But that will change because now it’s been announced that the Bleach anime is coming back. The manga’s closing arc “Thousand-Year Blood War” will be adapted…

CultureYou Can Poop In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing has always let you sit on its decorative toilets, but in New Horizons they’ve suddenly become a more practical consideration. Because you can poop on them. CultureKotaku Game DiaryWhy Can’t The Doomguy Break Windows?
The Doomguy is an incredibly strong and powerful warrior who can smash through concrete walls, rip off limbs and survive falls that would kill most humans. But he can’t break a window. Why is that?
