Call Of Duty Just Got The Most 420 No Scope Mode Ever

Just in time for the day after Christmas, Advanced Warfare has added a new team-based multiplayer mode that’s all sniper rifle action, all the time. You can start playing right now— provided you can get online, of course. The new mode is called “One Shot.” In a blog post, Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer describes it…

Skyrim, Summarized In 25 Seconds

Yup. That’s pretty much the entire experience, right there. Ferhod might be using the Heavy from Team Fortress in this video, but they manage to nail the hilarious spirit of Skyrim anyway. Amazing. Skyrim in a nutshell – SFM [Ferhod]

Christmas Will Last Longer In GTA Online, Due To Xbox Live, PSN Outages

Rockstar Games has changed its plans and decided to continue to give out Christmas gifts in Grand Theft Auto Online at least a day after Christmas, since so many players were unable to grab them on the 25th. The studio just announced this on Twitter following a day full of questions (including from us) about…

SimCity Purists Are Understandably Upset About The Newest SimCity

The new SimCity game for iOS and Android may have a four-star user-review rating on the iTunes app store, but a glance at those reviews—and some time playing the game—make it clear that this city’s got some problems. I know, I know: “Oh, it’s Kotaku harumphing about a new SimCity game again.” But, well… have…

Fans Have Spent Six Years Making A Pokémon Game That Feels Fresh

Pokémon Uranium isn’t your typical Pokémon fan game. The developers seem to be pouring everything into making a game that looks fresh—a quality that is unusual for the franchise. Taking inspiration from real-world places like Rio de Janeiro, the game takes place somewhere very different from any existing Pokémon games. You’ll still be collecting 8…

Hideo Kojima Trolled Everyone On Christmas, Because of Course He Did

On Christmas day, diehard Metal Gear Solid fans faithfully tuned into a broadcast called Kojima Station. The hope was that Kojima would give fans a neat look behind-the-scenes on Metal Gear Solid V. Maybe he’d even give people a release date. Who knows! So fans watched this stream for almost three hours. Kojima opened presents…

Smash Bros. Fans Have Some Great Ideas For Cards Against Humanity

Needless to say, some of these are going to be pretty gross. That, and deep into Smash lore. The photos come from smashboards forum user UltimaNylocke, who posted some goofy suggestions for Cards Against Humanity additions on this cardcast page. More of my favorites from the custom set below: There are a lot more responses…

Hundreds of Star Wars Comics Are On Sale…Before They Disappear

Dark Horse Comics, publisher of Star Wars comics since the early 1990s, won’t be allowed to sell any more after New Year’s Eve when Marvel takes over the franchise. So they’re putting all of them on sale. That’s half-price per issue or, if you prefer, $300 for the full 28,353 pages’ worth. Our friends at…

The First Kirby Game I Really Care About In Years

Despite his iconic presence as one of Nintendo’s foremost disgustingly cute characters, Kirby hasn’t had a good, solid game of his own in a while. And while Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is taking a quirky route to stardom, this new trailer for the Japanese version of the game makes me think that’s a good…

Old Folks Try QWOP, Are Also Utterly Confused

You can see the gears turning as they figure out that moves have to be coordinated in a rhythmic fashion to get your QWOPer to qwoperate (had to), but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating for them. This isn’t the first time YouTube channel React has had elders try out video game phenomenon for…

Day After Christmas Outage, Xbox Live Back, PSN Down For Maintenance

Xbox Live is working across the Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms this morning, a day after the service was down for many. But the PlayStation Network was down for “maintenance” on the PlayStation 4, according to a system message. Xbox Live appeared to come back to something close to normal functionality late Christmas night,…

This is what happens when a talented Minecraft player Google image searches “modern house” and rebuilds what he finds in-game. I’d say redditor ELWORRIER did a darn good job. Look below for the full comparison pic, and an imgur album filled with more exterior and interior shots. [Copied] Modern House [r/minecraft] Dayshot is an image-based…

Xbox Live And PlayStation Network Knocked Offline For Much Of Christmas [Update 3]

We hope you weren’t planning to play many games online on Christmas. Xbox users in North America and Europe are having difficulties logging into Xbox Live today, and PlayStation owners are suffering similar problems. Some Internet troublemakers are claiming they knocked both offline. Bah humbug to this. While most of our team are away from…

If Nintendo Ran The Hunger Games

It’s the Annual Smash Games and Wii Fit Trainer and Mega Man have been chosen as tributes. Machinima have put together their parody of The Hunger Games films in the vision of Nintendo and Smash Bros. It plays out pretty much how you’d expect. Merry Christmas! To contact the author of this post, write to…

Back in May, I chronicled my attempts to convince friends to get the Wii U so I could stop schlepping mine around. I’m now happy to report that I went to my friend Jake’s this week and saw that he got one—much earlier than he’d said he’d even consider it. If that’s not a Christmas…

The Official Awesome Holiday Gift Sharing Post

The only thing more fun than receiving holiday gifts is… I’m going to go with giving them here, for the sake of not sounding like a monster. But a close second is telling everybody about the presents you secured during the winter festivities. I’ll go first! Honestly this year was more about my kids than…

Holiday Greetings from 7 Game Developers

’tis the season, and Kickstarter’s game dev community is making sure none of us forget it. In the past weeks, they’ve been sending out holiday wishes with their project updates, sometimes including some rather nice art. The GIF up top was shared today by Discord Games, creators of the metroidvania Chasm. And here’s a greeting…
