A legendary series of role-playing games, the first Final Fantasy arrived on the Nintendo Entertainment System on December 18, 1987 and has seen 16 main entries—and many sequels and spin-offs. The newest installment, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, launched February 29 on PS5.

Square Enix and a wedding planner in Kobe, Japan have announced a real-life Final Fantasy XIV-themed ceremony with dress and tux, accessories and the event planned by the game’s development staff. Details and pricing will be announced at a later date.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 will be on Switch and Xbox April 16, Square Enix said today, while the Final Fantasy XII remaster will be out for those platforms on April 30. No word on the other old Final Fantasys that were announced for both platforms last year (FFVII and FFIX). And Final Fantasy VIII is still ignored.

Composer Nobuo Uematsu has announced on his Facebook page that he will begin playing concerts in Japan next year. He still hasn’t decided when he will return to composing. It sounds like his health is improving. Good news!

The Final Fantasy XIII series—the original, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns—are all heading to Xbox One’s backward compatibility next week, Square Enix said at X018 today. They join the other Final Fantasy classics heading to Xbox One in 2019.
