ReviewsMortal Kombat X: The Kotaku Review
New, younger Kombatants. Built-in options to play a particular character in completely different ways from someone else using the very same martial artist. More gore, but also more emotional plot points. The option to pay for easier Fatalities. Mortal Kombat is changing. This is a next-generation Mortal Kombat in more ways than one. MKX is…

Here’s how Sega and Creative Assembly are currently describing the game: “Our rules have changed, and with…

UncategorizedWorld of Warcraft‘s Toughest Boss, Killed In Under 3 Minutes
With better gear, people will do more and more crazy things in Warlords of Draenor’s current raid. This insanely fast and impressive kill of Blackrock Foundry badass end-boss on Heroic difficulty is a good example. What takes endless tries and around eight minutes of concentration for regular guilds took only 2 minutes and 58 secs…

Nice animated Ninja Turtles redesigns! Artist Alex Redfish geared them up and gave all four of them a pretty badass look. Raph with a cigar, Donatello with a tablet and goggles. It’s the exact opposite of the ones in the classic cartoons. To contact the author of this post, write to: [email protected]

UncategorizedBulgarian Music Video Is Weird Star Wars
The latest video from Bulgarian group Deep Zone Project features some familiar co-stars. Not sure if they’re official ones, though. Yeah… I’ve got a very bad feeling about this. Plus, Star Wars: Kinect flashbacks. The video, which was spotted by Europ Popped, doesn’t even look remotely official. The tune is called “May the Force Be…

Some Japanese Fans Are Skeptical about the Attack on Titan Movie
The Attack on Titan movie is not out yet. The trailers look pretty good! Don’t tell that to the haters in Japan. Of course, not everyone in country dislikes what they’ve seen so far. And I do think the movie should do well, just based on the built-in fan base and the ability of the…

CultureSorry, Yes, Animation Is Also Games Art
You know what, someexceptionsaside, I don’t feature the work of animators nearly enough here on Fine Art. So let’s change that tonight. This is the showreel of Enrico Schoebben, an animator from Germany, and it highlights both his keyframe work and motion-capture editing. Note the heavy presence of TF2 stuff: yes, the Source Filmmaker is…

Grand Theft Auto V Just Broke My Heart
Thanks a lot, AVEENTOR. I didn’t need these eyes for not sobbing salty waterfalls everywhere or anything. Objectivity
For the past few weeks, a lot of people have been asking me about “objectivity,” mostly thanks to a contextless tweet that has been circulating among the GamerGate crowd for quite some time now. I know what you’re thinking: “GamerGate? Taking things out of context? NO.” But here we are. Take a look at the…

UncategorizedGrand Theft Auto V PC Mod Gives You Super Powers
Look, sometimes you just gotta kick the shit out of a car. And the people behind it. And the better part of a city block. (First, a brief warning: tread lightly with GTA V PC mods. Word is that you can get banned for using them online. Single player should be OK, but you never…

You Can’t Play Heists In GTA Online With Randoms
I mean, technically, you can. They’ll invite you, you can accept their invites, and you may then begin a long and difficult sequence of missions with a team of random internet weirdos. You just shouldn’t. I should know, I’ve been trying. Having started a new character on the PC version, and with most of my…

Minecraft’s Rocks Don’t Burn, And Other Geological Lies
Are there kids out there who think the real world actually works like Minecraft? Geoscience Australia, a department of the federal government, seems to think so. So they’ve released a chart that compares the minerals found under the ground in Minecraft to their actual, IRL properties. If you’re old enough to be reading this website,…

CultureKill Everyone. Go Back In Time. Do It Again: The Video Game
You’re trapped in time. The same day won’t stop repeating itself, even if you ask it really nicely or, you know, die. You have absolute freedom. What do you do? Garbage Day is an upcoming Steam hopeful inspired by the film Groundhog Day and this infamously godawful bit from Silent Night, Deadly Night 2. Think…

“Is this guy gonna rage at me the whole game?” the unfortunate soul asks. Yes. Yes he is. CultureThe Longest Game In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive History
One game. Six overtimes. 88 goddamn rounds. Consensus says it’s the longest single game of pro Counter-Strike: Global Offensive ever. It was supposed to be a one-sided mismatch. exceL eSports, a team that some felt didn’t even deserve to be competing in the ESL UK Premiership, was matched against Team XENEX, a UK team of…

Watch A Super Mario Bros. Aquarium Get Built From Scratch
If I ever decide to buy fish, I’ll have to consider this incredible aquarium by Kelsey Kronmiller. “I started in about a year ago, after my good friend showed me a similar tank and challenged me to make one….so I did,” said Kronmiller to me over email. “I originally wanted to go with the underwater…
