The Week In Games: Deception
I have absolutely no idea what’s going on in the screenshot above, but whatever is happening in Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess, I was to be a part of it. I think. It’s been quite a while since I’ve gotten to play a Deception title, and somehow I don’t remember any of this from what…

ReviewsFinal Fantasy XIV Heavensward Log Two: Identity Crisis
I’d love to be able to report this week that I’ve reached the new level cap and experienced some of the high-end content Final Fantasy XIV’s first expansion has to offer, but first I need to figure out which version of my character I want to be. If Heavensward had introduced its three new adventuring…

Kotaku ‘Shop Contest: A New Ken!
Read the name of this week’s Photoshop contest in a firm, gruff voice. Put a little anger into it. Now cup your hands together at the palms, pushing away from yourself. We’re not responsible for any fire damage you incur. Earlier this week Capcomrevealed a new look for one of Street Fighter’s most iconic characters,…

UncategorizedThe First Five Minutes Of The Worst Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game
Let’s celebrate San Diego Comic-Con with a property that embodies all aspects of media—comic books, television, movies, video games, toys—and how that can be a really bad thing. Some people love Konami’s 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES, played here via original Ultra Games cartridge in Hyperkin’s Retron 5. The didn’t mind the…

UncategorizedLeaked Deadpool Comic-Con Footage Is Brutal, Funny And Perfect
In other words, it’s everything fans wanted in a Deadpool movie, with a side of “big chrome cock-gobbler.” The footage/trailer/whatever captured on cam during the 20th Century Fox Marvel Comics Panel at Comic-Con (via Polygon) is exactly as our io9 friends described it, only with more squinting and less filling in the blanks with our…

Kojima Productions Was “Dissolved,” Says Snake’s Japanese Voice Actor
Iconic voice actor Akio Otsuka might have shed some light on the murky Metal Gear Solid situation. According to him, Kojima Productions is no more. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this. Rumors have been swirling for months, and the Kojima Productions logo seemed to vanish from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s…

Video Of New Hitman Game Leaks
We haven’t seen much of the new Hitman game, which is having a kinda weird digital launch. Until something more official turns up, then, here’s a bunch of footage from a very rough version of the game. The footage’s label says it’s from an “alpha” build, in case you couldn’t work that out from the…

UncategorizedJared Leto’s Joker Shows Up in Suicide Squad Trailer [UPDATE]
UPDATE (7/13, 4:06pm): Presumably realizing that the official version looks way better than that off-screen leak, Warner Bros. has uploaded the Suicide Squad trailer. Watch here: Original post follows: Watch it before it gets pulled, kiddies. In the tradition of all trailers surreptitiously recorded and leaked during Comic-Con, this teaser for next year’s villain-turned-black-ops-agents movie…

LEGO Avengers Introduces… Iron Stan
There’s more to the LEGO Avengers video game than the two blockbuster movies. During a Comic-Con panel earlier today Stan “The Man” Lee took to the stage to introduce his two cameo characters as well as a few surprise guests. That’s right, famous creator Stan Lee doesn’t just get a homage to Iron Man’s old…

One Of These Warcraft Movies Posters Looks Better Than The Other
On the left side we have the lead from the excellent Vikings TV series in a wig looking stoic. On the right…well I suppose that’s an orc, if orcs looked like humans with horrid prosthetic faces. Lothar, portrayed here by the talented and frightening Travis Fimmel, looks like a human ruler with a massive weight…

UncategorizedCheck Out The New Batman V. Superman Trailer, Starring Wonder Woman
So she’s only on screen for a few seconds of the over three and a half minute long Comic-Con trailer for next year’s Batman V. Superman. They are the best seconds. It’s an impressive trailer, both visually and lengthwise. Lex Luthor’s wig gets a lot of play, and we get to see more of why…

UncategorizedThe Happiest Word Game Ever, With Bears
The problem with trying to tell people about Spry Fox’s Alphabear is stopping playing long enough to do so—at least in any form besides random tweets. Normally I am not a big fan of mobile games that encourage users to post Twitter or Facebook updates, but every now and then there are exceptions. That’s one…

Batman: Arkham Knight PC DLC Delayed Until The Game Is Fixed
Batman: Arkham Knight players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One get their first taste of post-release downloadable content this week with Batgirl: A Matter of Family. Those still playing the PC version will not, and for good reason. After all, it would be silly to release downloadable content for a version of the gamethat isn’t…

Transformers First All-Female Combiner Team Is All The Fans’ Fault
Here’s our first look at the toy version ofVictorion, the first all-female Transformers combiner. Fans voted on her name, gender, modes…color scheme. Maybe this fan voting thing isn’t so great after all. Now before we criticize, let’s get a good look at this close-knit group of female robots. Victorion is six separate entities that form…

Counter-Strike Map Based On One Piece Actually Kinda Works
This is certainly one of the more… imaginative Counter-Strike maps I’ve seen in recent times. The map is based on the Thousand Sunny, the ship captained by the main characters of anime titan One Piece. No super-powered pirate antics here, though—just terrorists. Though I suppose you could pretend that they’re pirates in the very real…

Thinking about picking up Codemasters’ latest racing game, F1 2015? Probably wait. The PC version is suffering from numerous issues, from frame rate drops and crashes to busted menus and controller problems. Codemasters acknowledged the issues and released a patch, but there’s still more work to be done.

A Few Extra Features Just Made The Sims 4 A Lot Better
The Sims is a very additive game. It never really stops or “ends” the way many single-player games do; it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. This week, a handful of small but much-needed new tools dropped into The Sims 4. First there’s the two official additions that EA dropped into the game this week:…
