CultureKotaku Game DiaryDaemon x Machina‘s Demo Is Pretty Good
I knew two things before playing Daemon x Machina. First, it has a wonderfully inscrutable name. Second, it has giant robots. The latter part is all that really matters to me—I adore mechs, from Gundam to Armored Core. After playing Daemon x Machina’s demo, I’m excited for the full game, even if the action doesn’t…

30 Hours With Metro Exodus
Before starting Metro Exodus, I replayed the entirety of its predecessor, cult hit post-apocalyptic shooter Metro: Last Light. Exodus’ first hour felt like it could’ve been part of that game. I skulked around in train tunnels, got chomped on by mutants, and listened to underground denizens chatter endlessly about their sad, sunless lives. Then, the…

OpinionImpressionsJump Force Does A Lot Of Stuff Wrong, But The Fighting’s Fine
There are many things that bother me about Jump Force, Bandai Namco’s all-star anime fighting game. There’s the massive roster that has only three female characters. The jarring dissonance between the plastic, lifeless anime characters and the realistic textures of their clothing. The jilted gait my character affects while exploring the game’s expansive yet largely…

Kotaku EastK-Pop Pick Of The Day: Remember
Another idol group has been tossed into the dustbin of history. This one especially hurts. Happy trails, Nine Muses. In the past, I’ve made no secret of my belief that Nine Muses (well, more like Four Muses by the time this goodbye song came out) was one of the most underappreciated, hidden gems of mainstream…

It was the second map of Los Angeles Gladiators’ match against Seoul Dynasty. LA had taken the…

The ‘Meaningful Stories’ Mod Makes Your Sims A Lot Closer To Actual Human Beings
My Sim, Ivy, was about to propose to her boyfriend when she got a call and found out that a close friend had died. Immediately, she fell into a sad funk. In an unmodded game, this feeling would last for two days unabated, and also dominate any other feeling she might have. But since I…
