Nintendo Blinks, Offers First DLC “Season Pass”

Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed are the kind of games with season passes. Offers where you pay a lot up front then get access to all that game’s DLC down the line. It doesn’t sound like a very Nintendo thing to do, does it? Oh, but it is. Nintendo is now offering a season…

After 32 Years, Jenga Has Been Improved

All you need is a chess clock. With that simple addition to the game, you can turn Jenga into a thrilling duel where time is your worst enemy. Which is to say, with a chess clock, you can make Jenga way, way better. Tom Scott here shows us how a typical game might go down—I’m…

Assassin’s Creed Wall-Climbing Can Actually Be Done

OK, so he doesn’t have a heavy cloak and half-a-dozen weapons weighing him down, and he’s not being chased by the local constabulary, but this guy still does a damn good impression of Assassin’s Creed’s trademark climbing. I’d always figured the game’s creators took a few liberties when it came to the speed with which…

The Hearthstone Soundtrack Is So Good

The first thing that struck me about Hearthstone wasn’t the lovely art or the goofy writing; it was the music. That killer music. I’d been waiting to play the game until it came out on iPad, and finally dove in last weekend. The more I played, the more I liked playing. (To the point where,…

I Don’t Get Cats, And Neither Does Science

Dogs are big, dumb, infinitely lovable obedience machines. Cats—love ’em, hate ’em, or spend half your day giggleweeping to Internet videos of them—are anything but. Why are they so willfully difficult? What’s going on in their heads? The short version: we don’t really know. Cats are weird. My cat has done everything from comfort me…

Real PS4 Screenshots Justify All That ‘Next-Gen’ Hype

Back when the PS4 and Xbox One were announced, “next-gen” meant a lot of things to a lot of people. Smarter games, bigger games, different games, more ways to play with your friends. But it also meant that games would look a whole lot better. It could sometimes be hard to tell just what that…

Frozen’s ‘Let It Go,’ Done Grand Theft Auto Style

Things would have happened a little differently had Frozen taken place in Liberty City. Things might’ve been a bit more…violent. Okay, yes, Anna doesn’t actually sing the song in the movie, even though this video by boblester122 still pairs her with the tune. But hey, if you wanna play as Elsa the Snow Queen instead,…

The Elder Scrolls Online At Its Silliest

No MMO can exist without a handful of emotes and idle animations, and The Elder Scrolls Online is also no exception. IGN shared a short clip where the play around with the available ones. Some of these, like dancing, might feel bit overused in previous MMOs, but hurling buckets? Doing pushups? Those look awesome! Elder…

Everything Wrong With Spider-Man In 11 Minutes

I didn’t mind the first Spider-Man movie, but every superhero flick has plenty of crazy continuity errors and ridiculous tropes. Spider-Man‘s tally? 115 in 11 minutes. There are a lot of common sins here, but the one I never would’ve caught is a two-column newspaper blurb that copies text from the first column to fill…

How Much It Costs To Mortgage An Xbox One And PS4

Video games are an expensive habit. And few things are pricier than being an early adopter for a next-gen console like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. So if you’re really itching to dive into some quality PS4 or Xbox One games, are you better off renting one system or the other and paying it…
