Bandai Namco has canceled its 2020 circuits for Tekken 7, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Soulcalibur VI due to the covid-19 pandemic. Online events are being planned to make up for the lack of competition.

Samurai Shodown protagonist Haohmaru is now playable in Soulcalibur VI. This is the 3D fighting game’s latest crossover after launching with The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia and introducing Nier: Automata’s 2B in late 2018. I, for one, am thrilled to see another samurai in Soulcalibur.

The Soulcalibur World Invitational is heading to Las Vegas on November 2. Seven of the world’s best Soulcalibur VI players will be joined by one challenger from an open qualifier to compete for a prize pool of $25,000.

Samurai Shodown’s Haohmaru will be joining the cast of Soulcalibur VI as its third guest character next season. A release date wasn’t announced, but fans can look forward to the return of classic Soulcalibur character Cassandra tomorrow, August 5, in the meantime.

Yuta “Yuttoto” Sudo is Evo 2019’s Soulcalibur VI champion. He fended off a fierce challenge from runner-up Zain “Bluegod” Tibeishat to become the game’s first official Evo champion.
