More than a million users have signed up to drive around in massively multiplayer online racer Need for Speed World, and EA shows its appreciation by removing level restrictions for non-paying customers, making all current and future content free-to-play.
When EA's Need for Speed World launched earlier this year, anyone could create an account and play, but only players that purchased the special starter pack were able to progress past level 10 in the game. With a level cap of 50, that's a pretty serious restriction.
Well it's gone now. Starting today, all players of Need for Speed World will be able to surpass the level limit, accessing all content currently available, along with all future updates, which includes new cars, a new world region, and a co-op pursuit mode.
"Need for Speed fans have played a critical role in making Need for Speed World a success. Fan feedback has helped shape every aspect of the experience - whether it's the creation of a new feature or improving polish and progression," said John Doyle, Senior Producer, Need for Speed World. "We're excited to open the gates so that every Need for Speed World player now has free access to all current and future content including new modes, cars, features and more."
Players who already purchased the starter pack will be getting three free 7-day car rental vouchers for the BMW M3 GTR, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Audi R8 4.2 FSI Quattro.
