Today is the launch of Diablo 4 season 15. Or at least it was supposed to be. Unfortunately, things have not gone at all as Blizzard planned for the “centerpiece of our 30th Anniversary celebration for Diablo” amid an onslaught of login error codes. The action-RPG’s big post-BlizzCon 2026 update has been delayed as a result.

The trouble started very early on September 15. Players began posting on the Blizzard forums about trouble logging into Diablo 4. The issues worsened throughout the day, with Blizzard addressing the situation when the Season 15 update started going live around midday. “We’re aware of an issue preventing some players from logging in,” a community manager wrote on the forums. “The team is investigating and working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

Lots of players were reporting a “login error 3000008” code upon trying to open the game. Others were getting error code 3000006. Players who were downloading the new Switch 2 port of Diablo 4 for the first time joked about getting to finally experience the error code drama of a new Diablo launch with everybody else.

At least one player claimed to have rolled into season 15 with all of their gold and Paragon Board unlocks from the previous season still intact (they’re supposed to reset). “Rebirth bricked the season,” they wrote, referring to a new feature that lets you transfer a character from the game’s standard (or Eternal) realm to the Seasonal realm. Other players have been seemingly able to enjoy the start of the new season without any issue. But given the scale of the day-one issues, Blizzard is delaying the season altogether, meaning anyone who already started will likely have their progress rolled back anyway.

“We’re continuing to address issues affecting today’s launch of Season of Hell’s Legacy,” read an update posted later in the day. “As a result, Season 15 is currently delayed. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve the issues and we’ll share updates as we have them.”

Season of Hell’s Legacy adds new story quests featuring the franchise’s legendary Horadrim Deckard Cain making his Diablo 4 debut, as well as the usual smattering of end game updates, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements. Another nod to the series’ past is the permanent addition of nine new Legacy Uniques, powerful and rare items “based on fabled relics of the past.” They include Messerschmidt’s Reaver, the fabled Stone of Jordan, and Henri’s Perquisition, among others.

It was supposed to be the triumphant start of Diablo‘s 30th anniversary celebrations—the first game released in January 1997. “Follow the seasonal questline through a living history of Diablo‘s past games, refreshed and recreated for Diablo IV,” read the season 15 description revealed at BlizzCon 2026. “Then relive the past as you encounter the memories of legendary heroes, notorious foes, and delve into the storied and troubled past of Sanctuary’s long history.”

The stroll down memory lane will have to wait, for now.
