Nobody Expects To Be Killed By Abathur In Heroes of the Storm

…until it actually happens. And then you feel like a fool. Abathur is a weak little Zerg slug monster who usually has to avoid direct confrontation in Heroes of the Storm, choosing instead to use his summon-able hat (technical name: “symbiote”) to power up distance opponents from a position of relative safety: That’s what YouTuber…

I Shouldn’t Have Waited So Long To Play The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing

For the past few years Eastern European developer Neocore Games has been releasing a series of excellent gothic horror PC action role-playing games, and I’ve been ignoring them. I blame Hugh Jackman. Every time I saw the title The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing pop up on my list of Steam releases, the first image…

Fallout 4: PC vs PS4 vs Xbox One

Let’s say you own an Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and you’re looking at getting Fallout 4. How does the game shape up on each platform? Like they did with Black Ops 3, Candyland have compared the versions of Bethesda’s new RPG side-by-side. Unlike Black Ops 3, things are looking pretty good in the sections…

Here’s Mashable’s clip with the unstoppable mercenary, cheating his way through a JRPG adventure. To contact the author of this post, write to: [email protected]

Crowd Shout From BlizzCon 2014 Is Hidden In The Warcraft Trailer

Remember the moment when last year, director Duncan Jones recorded Alliance and Horde war cries in the audience for the Warcraft movie? The Alliance one is already in the first trailer. It’s not easy to find it due to the music and the sounds effects, but it’s right there. But first, here’s the moment from…

Deus Ex Mod Lets You Murder People with Couches

You know how in Deus Ex, you’d throw an item at an NPC, even with level 4 muscle augs activated, and it’d bounce off of them harmlessly and they’d make a snide comment? Thanks to GMDX, those days are over. While GMDX is not a new mod—it’s currently at version seven—it seems this upcoming release…

The Ugliest Characters of Fallout 4

The character creation system in Fallout 4 sure is robust. There are seemingly endless options. But there’s one thing it’s especially good at: making unsightly characters. No wonder some players are trying to make the most repugnant characters imaginable. So far, the rogues gallery is impressively hideous. Of course, you can make beautiful characters, too,…

Five Must-Watch Anime for Fall 2015

This season there are 54 new anime on the air, so it can be more than a little difficult to know which ones to watch. But now that the season has reached its half-way point, we at Kotaku East come bearing our recommendations. Fellow Kotaku author Toshi Nakamura and I have spent the past few…

Champion Martial Artist Started out at an Arcade

This is In Gun Yoo, better known as “Kick Gun.” Last year, he won Red Bull’s Kick-It tournament, cementing his place as one of the best extreme martial artists on Earth. And he got his start in a most unlikely place: at a game arcade. But he wasn’t playing games per se, he was kicking…

War. War never changes. And thankfully, neither does Bethesda’s volume of facial hair options (or penchant for snappy nicknames).

Tomb Raider Cosplay At Actual Mayan Temple

I mean, not everyone has the chance to just head over to the famous ruins of Palenque and dress up as Lara Croft, but if you do, you may as well make the most of it. Lara is LadyLemon, photos by Fernando Brischetto

I Am A Hero Is One Of The Best-Looking Comics I Have Ever Read

Like Toshi, I’ve been reading the manga I Am A Hero, and like Toshi, I’ve been loving it. But I wanted to spend some time today looking at one aspect in particular that leaves me speechless every time I flick through it, and that’s the art. One of the things that I love about my…

Heavenly Art, Hellish Art

Anthony Jones, a concept artist who has worked for companies like Blizzard and Sony, was the focus of maybe the coolest Fine Art we’ve run all year. He’s also found the time to put a book out. That book is called Heaven’s Hell, and is a collection of images and background info detailing Jones’ original…
