Gorgeous New GTA V Mod Is The Work of One Person

Grand Theft Auto V, already one of the prettiest, most immersive sandbox games to-date, now has a mod that turns everything up to 11. The GTA 5 Redux mod not only improves things like lighting and contrast, but also little, slightly more morose details like how NPCs act as they’re falling to the ground after…

The Weekend In Esports: Hearthstone Summer Championships

It feels like only yesterday I was sitting down to embark on Hearthstone’s latest adventure, One Night in Karazhan. Just over a month later and the scene is completely lit. Blizzard announced it would remove 45 cards from the game’s arena mode to try and restore some semblance of balance to the otherwise rigged casino,…

Konami’s Latest PC Port Is Terrible

What is going on here. The PC versions of multiplatform games are supposed to look better, not worse. As you may remember from last year, Konami’s big sports series Pro Evolution Soccer now runs on the Fox Engine. As you may also remember from last year, for reasons unknown, the PC version of PES 2016…

ReCore: The Kotaku Review

Irredeemably bad video games are a simple, tidy affair. Their badness is straightforward. The game stinks. It was a waste of time to play. Probably shouldn’t have even finished it. It is different and perhaps more frustrating to play a promising game that starts well, carries many great ideas and then stumbles. The new Xbox…

The PC Version Of BioShock Remastered Has Issues

Continuing a grand tradition that began when BioShock first came out in 2007, the remastered versions of BioShock 1 and 2 did not emerge from the bathysphere plunge to PC unscathed. On the upside, the remastered BioShocks are functional, albeit janky in places. The most overt issue is a lack of graphical options that would’ve…

Someone Put Harambe In Street Fighter, Because Why Not

Harambe vs Capcom is a real video game that you can play. Not only does HvC bizarrely place everyone’s favorite gorilla (RIP) in a fighting game, it also gives the crossover a story to go along with it. In this rendition of reality, a shadow agency wants to kill Harambe because he has psychic powers.…

Adam Jensen has a lot of work to do in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. On a whole, I have very mixed feelings about Mankind…

Undertale‘s Unused Music Is Pretty Sweet

For the past week, infamously reclusive Undertale creator Toby Fox has been celebrating the RPG mega-hit’s first anniversary with tidbits and snippets (but sadly no butterscotch cinnamon pie). The best part? Music that never made it into the final game. First up, an early version of Alphys’ lab: Here’s a version of Undyne’s theme before…

If you’re gonna climb a ladder, climb a ladder My character in Divinity: Original Sin 2 might be a downtrodden prisoner, but that doesn’t mean she can’t crest a laddertop with style. And the dismount! Even better!
