OpinionImpressionsThe Latest Assassin’s Creed Collection Is A Reminder Of What Made The Old Games Great
One of the most extraordinary things about the games in the new Assassin’s Creed Rebel Collection is their diverse subject matter: a game about being a pirate-assassin in the Caribbean in the late 18th century, a game about disrupting the slave trade in the same region, a game about being an assassin turned assassin-hunter during…

CultureIn The Space My Mirrors Once Were, I Made Avatars
In many video games, the body of your avatar does not change with time or experience. In Dragon Age: Inquisition or The Outer Worlds, you can apply scars to your character’s face, but they don’t accrue new ones as time goes on. These characters can become absurdly powerful, stronger both physically and mentally, but their…

UncategorizedMy Favorite Witcher 3 Quest Has No Fighting, Just Drunken Shenanigans
There’s a quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that best shows why the world Geralt of Rivia inhabits is so easy to get lost in. It’s not an epic battle against a Griffin, or a cursed fetus. It’s not even a naked Witcher in a hot tub. There’s actually no fighting at all in…

OpinionImpressionsKing Of Cards Adds A Fun Card Game To Everything That Already Makes Shovel Knight Great
Shovel Knight: King of Cards is the perfect reason to jump back into Yacht Club Games’ ever-expanding shovel-verse. The game’s terrific platforming and treasure hunting are back, but there’s also a great new mini-game now, and it’s all a blast to play. I wish every great indie game received the DLC treatment Shovel Knight has.…

Yoshihiro Togashi is best known for two things: creating Hunter x Hunter and taking breaks from Hunter x Hunter. The last issue this year of Weekly Shonen Jump has been published, and the popular manga was not in it. Nor is it in the first issue of 2020, which was published on December 2. The…

UncategorizedTable Manners, A Video Game About Very Bad Tinder Dates
This is Table Manners, a video game in which you sit down across from your date, pour them a glass of wine, thrust fish in their face, spill food all over the table then set everything on fire. Or at least that’s how I envisage spending most dates in this physics title, which looks a…
