Battlefield 1 Headlines November’s Xbox Live Games With Gold

In November’s Games with Gold, I’m personally most excited about indie racer Race the Sun, but Battlefield 1 is good too I guess. If you’re out of things to do in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you can go back to the start of the series with Assassin’s Creed As always, these games are only “free” if you have…

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend is for starting Red Dead Redemption 2 because you fell asleep before it launched last night, because you are an old man. I never played the first Red Dead because I didn’t own a console, but I always wanted to. I read about the game a whole lot—highfalutin academic papers weren’t quite the…

GOG Account Publishes Yet Another Awful Tweet

Yesterday, GOG, CD Projekt Red’s digital storefront, posted a tweet that included a hashtag that has been circulating to advocate for trans rights. However, the tweet was a promotional post about the storefront. The post was soon deleted, and today, the company explained the retraction. This is all familiar. “Classic PC games #WontBeErased on our…

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend is for having knocked a window curtain down this morning and, while trying to put it back up, realizing it’s ridiculous you still use the last tenant’s curtains and determining to go buy new curtains. Also, video games. This week I learned there’s a ghost ship that appears only once a day in…

Gwent‘s New Solo Campaign Includes Some Great Battles

I’ve been playing the same fight in Thronebreaker, Gwent’s standalone story, for a few hours now. I still haven’t beaten it. In most games, that would make me frustrated with myself or furious at the designers. But thanks to Thronebreaker’s unique mechanics, I’m itching to keep trying. Thronebreaker is the single-player standalone accompaniment to CD…

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend is for being pretty pumped about how it’s suddenly become fall in New York, and also regretting that I neglected to get my coat cleaned before it turned coat weather. The weekend is also for video games. I’ve been poking around The Light Keeps Us Safe this week, the new game from the…

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend is for reorganizing my kitchen because I spent too long looking at stuff on the Container Store website and now I feel like I could be a better person if my flour was in a see-through storage container instead of a torn bag. The weekend is also for getting overwhelmed by that task…

More Games Should Let Us Replay The Tutorial

Of all the many valid reasons I’m still playing The Witcher 3, there’s one that’s not related to the game’s quality. If I put it down for too long, I’ll completely forget how to play. It’s a problem that extends to every game I own. I recently discovered a game in my Steam library that…

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend is for finally getting some alone time after weeks of travel and house guests, which means drinking whiskey in the bath while watching Anthony Bourdain episodes. Also, video games. I bought the Fortnite battle pass for the first time yesterdayso I could write about the dog (it’s a good dog). I’m stressed out…

Fortnite Season Six Brings Adorable Pets

Fortnite’s Season 6 is here. There’s no big event this time around, but there are new items, new areas to get eliminated in, and look at the puppy. Season 5 ended with the game’s long moving cube dissolving into Loot Lake and turning the surface bouncy. With Season 6, the cube has launched an island…
