Happy (Early) Father’s Day From Prototype 2
Who’s your daddy… or what’s your daddy? Activision sent out these digital Father’s Day cards just in time for the big event this Sunday. Are you prepped for the weekend. I know as a father I expect to be carried around and fanned at all times.

We Debate Real And Fake Gaming Problems With College Humor
One of your (favorite?) Kotaku editors is on College Humor‘s Nerd Alert show. The topics: Duke Nukem Forever not being very good. EA possibly imbalanacing Battlefield 3 through some downloadable content shenanigans…then we talked to a quadraplegic gamer who wants developers to make controls re-mappable so people like him can play them (which he does…

The BioShock and Skyrim Show
I recently rearranged my life so I could see two important video games: BioShock Infinite and Skyrim. They are two games for which you should rearrange your life—or at least your Thursday in early June. They were the games people were buzzing about last week’s E3, their titles the words people said when I asked…

The Forever Man
You’ve probably seen this 10-year-old Duke Nukem Forever preorder receipt before – perhaps even here. What you may not have known was that it belonged to Bill Stiernberg, a 27-year-old attorney who was recently interviewed for the game’s release this week. “It was kind of surreal to turn this fading, disintegrating pre-order [receipt] to the…

No! This is the Cutest Link You’ll Ever See
This is Mannix. He’s so convincing a Link that we’re told Nintendo has approached him about cosplaying the character at conventions officially. But for now we see the child in a photo shoot by the talented Sid Ceasar in some dark and forlorn wood. He’s an altogether different sort of cute Link, than the one…

Wii U Development Kits Coming to a Game Studio Near You, Soon!
At this year’s E3, Nintendo showed off Wii U “games” that were actually taken from 360 and PS3 versions According to one report, the reason for this was that developers only had access to “underclocked” Wii U development kits, able to produce games that weren’t quite up to current gen snuff. Sega West production boss…

Kid Gets School Ban On Pokémon Overturned
New York student Lucas Ayala, who goes to Out World Neighbourhood School in Queens, was so sick of a ban on playing with Pokémon cards during breaks that he wrote the school a letter, asking them to reconsider. Somehow, that actually worked The school’s assistant principal, moved by Ayala’s politely-worded letter, not only replied, he…

Need For Speed: The Run Is Mostly Not Running
Mirror’s Edge meets Need for Speed: That’s what I was expecting, hoping for as I stood in line last week to see Electronic Art’s new racing game. The brief glimpse I caught of Need For Speed: The Run prior to my meeting showed a racing game that let you get out of the car and…

Riptide GP Rips Android Gamers a Console Quality Racer
I knew absolutely nothing about gaming on the Android platform before Vector Unit sent me a build of its jet ski racer Riptide GP and a couple of devices to play it on. Now I want to know everything. Shortly after I wrote up Hydro Thunder Go for the Windows Phone 7 as a gaming…

Who’s Bringing Minecraft to the Xbox 360?
Not Mojang, the game’s original developer. According to Minecraft designer Markus Persson, 4J Studios is doing the port. “They seem to have a very good mentality, and obviously are very talented,” tweeted Persson. [@notch via GamePro]

This is a Super Robot Trailer in Three Parts
2nd Super Robot Taisen OG is coming to the PS3. This is the game’s trailer. It’s as if the trailer is chopped up into three distinct parts. I like the first part best. The others? As much as that style is part of the series, less so. 『第2次スーパーロボット大戦OG』第1弾PVを公開!【映像配信】 [ファミ通.com Thanks, Josh!]

The Problem With Releasing Duke Nukem Forever After All These Years…
I’ve finished Duke Nukem Forever. There are a lot of things wrong with it, which I’ll get to next week in my review. One thing I want to talk about today, though, has as much to do with the game as it has the game’s publishers. You may have read this elsewhere already, or seen…

An Old Building Becomes a Battleground For Old Games
How exciting can you make a drab old apartment building in the Czech Republic look? Turns out, with some video game effects, pretty damn exciting. Pavel Novák made this video, called 8-bit invader, showing a building being turned into a retro video game extravaganza. It’s not an actual projection, as it’s all computer work, but…

The iPhone, Not the 3DS, Brings These Kiddy Cards to Life
Bandai’s Carddas series of kiddy card games is going AR. Its newest One Piece and Kamen Rider cards are AR enabled and can be played with an iPhone. AR is the holy shit moment for the 3DS; however, these cards apparently do not work with Nintendo’s handheld. Here’s how it works: scanning a card causes…
