Don’t Forget The Dreamcast’s 16th Birthday :(

Sony has spent the day reminding people that it’s the 20th anniversary of the original PlayStation’s launch in North America, and that’s cool, but let’s not forget that today is also a special anniversary for another old console. On September 9, 1999, the Sega Dreamcast was released in the USA. While it’s sad that the…

Heroes Of The Storm’s Rexxar/Misha Combo Is A New Kind Of MOBA Character

Heroes of the Storm added the Warcraft duo Rexxar and his pet bear Misha to its character roster yesterday. Like all new MOBA characters, the Manbearpig team feels pretty, well, new! But they feel new for a better reason than most heroes do. Rexxar and Misha are a unique, novel addition to the whole genre.…

And here’s a gamepad made for the Apple TV The SteelSeries Nimbus, available for $49.99 alongside the new Apple TV in October, is apparently the result of a lengthy R&D effort. Good one, R&D. Perfect for when that little remote goes missing.

Two Very Australian Things The Mad Max Video Game Got Right

Chris didn’t think much of Mad Max. I, on the other hand, am having some fun with it, though it might help that being an Australian who already lives in an interior wasteland I’m a little closer to the source material than he is. There are two little touches in particular I’m appreciating, both of…

Apple’s So-Called Gaming Console Is A Major Bust

For six years now, soothsaying analysts and bloggers have predicted that the rise of easy, affordable iOS games would dominate the gaming market and render consoles obsolete. Nintendo is dead, too, they’d say. And PC gaming. Even today, as the PC thrives and the PS4 and Xbox One have outperformed most game publishers’ expectations, the…

Kotaku friends. Our good buddy Jason Schreier cannot resist the allure of a shiny new special edition Hyrule 3DS, which may have just become available for pre-order. We must help him resist. He already has a Zelda 3DS. He does not need this new one. Please talk some sense into him. Thank you.

Wonder Woman Can’t Save DC Comics’ Most Disgusting Superhero Team

There’s no way that Wonder Woman’s going to fight crime on a team led by a drunk who’s constantly pissing himself. She’s not going to face down evil standing side-by-side with Dogwelder. She’s just not. She says so, right there on page two of All-Star Section Eight #4. But then she does. And it’s hilarious.…

Heroes Of The Storm Nerfs Overpowered Monster Mage Kael’Thas…Again

Last month, Heroes of the Storm finally got around to nerfing the monstrosity known as Kael’thas—a pyromaniac mage from Warcraft. But the nerf was merely a setback. In the new patch that came out last night, Blizzard had to dial down his abilities once again. As I wrote back in August, Kael’Thas has been considered…

The PlayStation Turns 20 Today — What’s Your Favorite Memory?

As incredible as this sounds, PlayStation is 20 years old today in America. (It hit Japan back in December 1994). My first encounter with the original PlayStation wasn’t on launch day, but rather, the machine’s first Christmas. It was nearly a total disaster, too, with two kids on the verge of tears for hours. I…

Tiny 3D Printed Skittles Sorter Is a Work of Art

Skittles, sorted by hand? Absolutely unacceptable. The year is 2015 and if someone wants to sort Skittles (or M&Ms) it has to be done with a 3D printed machine, like the one Nathan Peterson built. Everything is 3D printed except for the electronics. It uses a TCS3200 for color sensing. It is powered by 3…
