Metal Gear designer Hideo Kojima was apparently not allowed to attend tonight’s Game Awards, per an announcement by host Geoff Keighley. A lawyer for Konami reportedly barred Kojima from attending, nor accept his awards. The Phantom Pain’s Kiefer Sutherland accepted one of Metal Gear’s awards on his behalf. When the news was revealed, the audience…

While we patiently wait for Shadow Complex 2, Chair Entertainment has been quietly prepping Shadow Complex Remastered for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. PC players can even download the game—for free!—right now. Here’s a trailer: What’s new? Other than graphics, there’s new achievements and “challenges.” This game was so good. Can’t wait to play…

Earlier this year, beloved Nintendo president Satoru Iwata passed away. Tonight at The Game Awards, Reggie Fils-Aime paid him tribute. You can watch Reggie’s speech here: Show host Geoff Keighley also reminisced about a moment he shared with Iwata a few weeks before he passed away. He said Iwata looked “thinner than I thought he…
In 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online had a monthly paid subscription. In 2015, it ditched those subs. Now, Bethesda’s literally offering money to people who play it—they’re giving away $1 million to a random player, to be announced on February 1 2016.
“Thank you for making games…. We are forever in your debt.” Kinda Funny gaming pundit Greg Miller may have won the award for Trending Gamer at the 2015 Game Awards in Los Angeles, but he also just cleaned up for Best Speech with a terrific salute to hard-working game developers. A must-see. Here’s a transcript:…
Developer Double Fine announced a sequel to the much-loved 10-year old adventure-platformer Psychonauts at The Game Awards tonight. Set a little after the events of the first game, which was set in a summer camp that provided training for mind-invading acrobats, it’ll follow Raz’s continuing adventures through the minds of other people as a professional…
Prehistoric Far Cry is looking pretty damn good, I gotta say. Judging from this trailer, it’s not surprising that they went with the “Primal” subtitle—the game looks visceral. We’re talking vicious bears, saber tooth tigers, and mammoths…all trying to rip your throat out. Better yet, you can control some of these monsters! Well, damn. I’m…
The folks who’ve made episodic classics based on Borderlands, Fables and The Walking Dead are taking on the Dark Knight. A quick teaser ran tonight on the Game Awards, with comic-style artwork narrated by the chatter of Gothamites debating the virtues of both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Creative Assembly, the guys behind the Total War series—some of my favourite games—have along with publisher Sega tried something slightly different for their next release’s DLC. And it hasn’t gone down too well. In October, Creative Assembly announced that Total War: Warhammer was going to have some pre-order DLC (reminder: don’t pre-order) that involved locking…
There are four factions you can help out in Fallout 4. Each has its own goals, its own philosophy, and its own cool outfits. The question is: Which one is best? Patricia’s already explained why she doesn’t like the Brotherhood, but maybe you feel differently? Or maybe you’re more an a Railroad type? Or maybe…
In Rainbow Six Siege, the attacking team controls drones in addition to human operatives. But really, why use wimpy old human meatbags at all? Eden Lane posted a video in which they won a Rainbow Six Siege match seconds after it started. How? By driving a drone into the hostage area and waiting See, Siege…
The sudden end to Project M’s development yesterday has turned the Super Smash Bros. community on its head. No one’s quite sure what the next step should be, resulting in a lot of conspiracy theories, yelling, and confusion. Read my last post to get completely up to speed, but let’s lay out the basics. Project…
Fallout 4’s wasteland holds many secrets—and also many more not-so-secrets. Case in point: creepy-ass mannequins are goddamn everywhere. Finding themselves in unanimous agreement with every other member of sane society, modder Hilliary decided this was not OK. Their solution? Lawn flamingos, naturally. Thus, the Mannequin Be-gone (Rise of the Flamingos) mod was born. It replaces…
The role-playing game Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will be out on December 22, publisher XSEED just announced. This one’s set in the same world as Trails in the Sky, but takes place in a different country with a new cast of characters. It’ll be on both PS3 and Vita.
Overwatch’s beta is taking a break. On Dec 10th Blizzard’s team-based shooter will go offline for an “extended” period. The break is temporary; the beta will return in mid-to-late January. Blizzard plans to use the time to make improvements to the core game and work on features like spectating and progression.
Even though I’ve been playing Super Mario Maker nearly every day for more than two months now, I’m constantly surprised by what players have come up with. My latest discovery? Forcing Mario through a version of Guitar Hero to escape. With Giant Bomb editor Dan Ryckert currently in hiding, I’ve taken up a new challenge…
