Well the search for full-time work will be officially under way this week, now that we’re past the holidays and into the first quarter of the new year. Pretty much everyone I asked said no one would be looking to make moves until after January. So that justified a nice long nearly two-month staycation that was still nonetheless full of existential angst. Many friends in D.C. tried to cheer me up with job notices and encouraging words — apparently a new administration brings with it tons of openings. I’ll pass. It’s not that I’m ideologically opposed to the incoming government, but when Obama’s team is vetting people and one of the questions is “have you ever sent any embarrassing emails?” I think I can stop that process well short of the inevitable painful background checks.
