Here’s A Nice Nintendo Switch Controller
Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s overdrawn (over eight minutes!) showcase on today’s Nintendo Direct was agonising. To make up for that, the game is also getting this very pleasant Switch Pro Controller. I appreciate, as a fan of pink controllers but not Xenoblade Chronicles 2, how there’s no obtrusive branding for the game plastered all over it,…

The team behind Bravely Default is making a Nintendo Switch exclusive called Octopath Traveler. It looks beautiful, and there’s a demo out tonight. Octopath Traveler is just the working title, although this is Square Enix, so anything goes. It was originally announced at the Switch reveal event in January, and Nintendo showed off more details…

Suda 51 Thinks Nintendo Switch Is Punk AF
“The Switch is a punk console,” says game director Goichi Suda, aka Suda 51. “I was shocked by it. I thought, whoever made this must have something wrong with them. In a positive way. This guy must be messed up in the head to think of something like this.” “It’s kind of like a challenge…

After disappearing from store shelves, the NES Classic is returning next year. But that’s not all: the Super NES Classic will continue to be shipped through 2018. In Japan, the Super Famicom will still get shipped after October, and the Famicom Mini is going back into production. Hot damn. The SNES Classic was slated to…

Hands On With Nintendo Switch’s Big Holiday RPGs
The Switch is such a familiar part of the gaming landscape now that it’s strange to consider that Nintendo’s hybrid device is about to head into its first holiday season. What’s even stranger is that for Baby’s First Christmas, Nintendo’s lineup is overloaded with deep single-player fantasy adventures: role-playing games Skyrim and Xenoblade Chronicles, and…

Monster Hunter Stories Is The Best Pokémon Game I’ve Ever Played
Monster Hunter Stories takes the popular hunting series and mixes it up into an adorable roleplaying game all about hatching cool critters. Players take the role of a “rider” who befriends monsters instead of chopping them into bits. The main Monster Hunter games focus on sprawling locales and multiplayer monster hunts. Monster Hunter Stories is…

Don’t let the shoddy console-grabbed screenshot fool you. Lego Worlds is out on Nintendo Switch this week, and it looks and plays as well as the other console versions, with the added benefit of portability. Exploring is great on the go, but I’d recommend TV mode for precision building.

Engineers Are Trying To Save The Miiverse Before It’s Gone Forever
With the impending demise of Nintendo’s Miiverse, some users are resorting to manually saving their images. Others, though, are looking for a solution that’s a little more comprehensive. Nintendo Designer Explains Why Salmon Run Isn’t Always Available
It’s super annoying that Splatoon 2‘s maps rotate, or that you can’t play Salmon Run all the time. One of the two Western designers at Nintendo says it comes down to the vastly different ways the Japanese developers approach game design. Jordan Amaro is a game designer at Nintendo’s Kyoto studio, and, “one of only…
