Taro Yoko’s producer at Square Enix says he wants the Nier director to make a Final Fantasy. He let this brilliant idea fly during a recent interview with Wow Japan, saying he would want the game to feature a “similar strangeness” to Yoko’s other games. “I’m hoping for a big budget if I do work on it,” Yoko replied.

In the wake of Scalebound’s cancellation, Platinum Games released its hit Nier: Automata in Japan. Hideki Kamiya tweeted,“It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Platinum was rescued by Yoko [Taro].” The studio has new fans as well as an increase in top flight job applicants.

Nier: Automata audio engineer Masami Ueda has written a cool blog post detailing how he implemented composer Keiichi Okabe’s secondary hacking soundtrack. It’s easy to overlook how much work something like that takes, and fun to get a look at Ueda’s process.
