What’s Up With Mortal Kombat X On PS3 And 360?

Last week, publisher Warner Bros. quietly delayed the last-gen port of Mortal Kombat X, according to several GameStop employees, who tell Kotaku they informed customers on Friday that PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the new fighting game had been delayed from summer until fall. The mega-retailer changed the listing on their website, too, quietly…

Not Even Mortal Kombat Can Kill Jason Voorhees

Well this is downright horrifying. A few players have found a curious glitch where Jason Vorhees refuses to stay down, even after experiencing brutalities that dismember him or behead him. Shoryuken explains that this happens because Jason has an “Unstoppable” stance, which allows him to revive himself—even when he’s technically not supposed to be able…

Good Lord, Mortal Kombat 4’s Endings Were Terrible

We’re lucky that the latest Mortal Kombat games have turned out to beso excellent. There was a stretch during the 90s when the series wasn’t as good—and it’s hilarious to look back on all of it now. In the last month, a particular Mortal Kombat clip has been floating around on the internet. In it,…

The Old Lady Is Mortal Kombat’s Best Character

Meet Blanche. She’s the old lady in the background of the Outworld Marketplace stage, and she is the best thing about Mortal Kombat X If you’ve been playing Mortal Kombat, then you probably already know that you can use the old lady as a weapon, like so: [Source: Generic Gaming] This alone was enough to…

It’s a psycho killer try-before-you-buy this weekend in Mortal Kombat X. If you bought the game but not the DLC, head over to MKX’s Living Towers this weekend to play as Jason Vorhees in what should have been a 13 round battle but ended up only being 6 because that’s no fun at all.

Mortal Kombat Player Takes Revenge After Jerk Teabags His Friend

If you’re gonna be a dick about winning, you probably shouldn’t do it to someone whose best friend is waaaaaaaaay better than you. In the above video, MrGrawrD witnesses his friend get mercilessly pummeled and then tea-bagged—that most disrespectful of video game victory gestures—by some jerk online in Mortal Kombat X. So what does MrGrawrD…

What Jason Voorhees Really Looks Like, According To Mortal Kombat

Huh. Not really what I was expecting! The image above was discovered by Test Your Might, and it’s the product of PC players tinkering with the game. While Jason Voorhees does wear a mask during the entirety of Mortal Kombat, Netherrealm Studios did render a face under there. A face that nobody was ever supposed…

Fans Divided About Whether “Spamming” Is Okay in Mortal Kombat

One of Mortal Kombat’s newest characters is gaining a reputation, at least among casual fans. According to the Internet, Jacqui Briggs is a problem. More specifically, it’s the way people are playing her. There’s recently been a lot of salt directed at players who pick Jacqui Briggs and then proceed to spam the same move…

Mortal Kombat Spammer Gets What They Deserve

You know that saying, don’t hate the player, hate the game? Fuck that. I prefer the whole “crush the skulls of your enemies using the white hot rage of justice” approach…when we’re talking about Mortal Kombat, at least. If you’ve played Mortal Kombat before, then you’ve probably come across spammers. The most famous spammer is…

If you want to know every disgusting method Jason Voorhees will use to chop up the fighters of Mortal Kombat X, here you go. YouTube user MKIceAndFire has compiled the Friday the 13th star’s fatalities and brutalities, and while some of ‘em are pretty good, I’m with Patricia: it’s a little disappointing. There are times…

Jason’s Mortal Kombat X Fatality Is… Disappointing

It’s okay. He’s still a really cool character who might be a ton of fun to play! Some players have managed to grab a hold of Jason Voorhees before the actual release date—which means we can see how the character works ahead of time. Behold, (one of?) Jason’s fatalities (thanks for uploading it, Yangyugi!) And…

Old Folks Are Not Okay With Mortal Kombat X Fatalities

In the latest installment of The Fine Bros. “Torturing The Elderly” series, a group of older folks don’t take kindly to seeing people graphically slaughtered. As it turns out, ripping apart a guy’s skull and using his lower jaw (complete with bubbling esophageal hole) as an ashtray makes older people uncomfortable. While the jury is…

Mortal Kombat Nut Punches Are Brutal

Holy shit, Cassie Cage. Content warning: this post includes footage of violently exploding balls. Possibly NSFW! Those of you playing Mortal Kombat X have probably already seen this, but given how ridiculous it is, I thought it was worth sharing. Cassie Cage has an X-Ray move where she punches characters so hard, their balls erupt.…

NetherRealm has revealed Jason Voorhees is coming to Mortal Kombat X on May 5, if you’ve bought the Kombat Pack. Everyone else can buy the Friday the 13th star the week after. The Kombat Pack is basically the game’s season pass. It’s $29.99. Here’s what it comes with: The Ultimate Horror Pack: Playable character Jason…

Mortal Kombat X, As Told By Steam Reviews

Mortal Kombat X didn’t have the smoothest launch on PC. Steam users are understandably upset about this—but even in trying times, they still make sure to crack a joke or two. The Steam reviews for Mortal Kombat X are, as of this writing, mostly negative. But people are still having fun with it all. You…

Mortal Kombat X: The Kotaku Review

New, younger Kombatants. Built-in options to play a particular character in completely different ways from someone else using the very same martial artist. More gore, but also more emotional plot points. The option to pay for easier Fatalities. Mortal Kombat is changing. This is a next-generation Mortal Kombat in more ways than one. MKX is…

Here Is A Thing That Happens In Mortal Kombat X

For a game full of brutalities and gruesome deaths, Mortal Kombat X still managed to surprise me last weekend with one specific scene. You wanna see it, right? (Spoilers for an early chapter of Mortal Kombat X follows!) Those of you playing Mortal Kombat X know that there’s a civil war going on in the…

The Lies Adults Used To Tell Me About Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat was the reason I’d beg my parents to drop me off at the arcade, and for good reason: my local hangouts were granted access to early versions of the bloody fighting game. What I remember most from that era was knowing I’d get to play the newest version of Mortal Kombat before anyone…

How to Unlock Mortal Kombat X‘s Secret Fight

The old-school versions of Mortal Kombat were filled with hidden characters, features and in-jokes. You’d only ever see them if you fulfilled certain requirements. The new one has stuff like that, too, but they can be a bit more elusive. Here’s how to trigger a secret showdown in Mortal Kombat X As documented in the…
