BitSummit will be held online. Earlier this year, it was announced that the indie game event would not be held this May to coronavirus covid-19 concerns. In its place, “BitSummit Gaiden,” an online iteration, will be held from June 27 to June 28, giving indie games in Japan the spotlight they deserve.  

BitSummit, the annual indie game event held in Kyoto, will not be held this May 9 and 10 due to coronavirus COVID-19 concerns. “Our plans are to continue working on the next edition of BitSummit,” organizers write,and we will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks.”

This weekend, the seventh annual (seventh!) BitSummit will get underway in Kyoto. Keita Takahashi (Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy fame) will be keynoting, while others, like Platinum Games Atsushi Inaba and Koji “Iga” Igarashi, among many others, will also be on hand. Official site here.

Japanese indie games festival BitSummit gets underway on July 9 and 10 in Kyoto. This year, Nintendo and Sony are among the official sponsors. According to Famitsu, Hironobu Sakaguchi and Goichi Suda are both slated to give talks. For more, check the event’s official site.
