My Five Favorite Kotaku Stories From Last Week

This is late late late. No matter, last week boiled down to some gems, to mix-metaphors. Allow me to re-highlight them, and please don’t judge harshly that I picked one of my own.

What the New Assassin’s Creed Gets Wrong (and Right), According to a Historian – Chris Suellentrop talks to a historian who shows some of the game’s accuracies, creative liberties and missed opportunities.

Forget No Man’s Sky. I’m Getting Hyped To Play Some SporeAnother from Chris, this one a sort of preview for a game that came out long ago. Expect a new “review” eventually, too!

When A Game Is Busted, But You Can’t Stop Playing – Luke Plunkett doing a superb job explaining the allure of the sort of broken PC game Emergency 2016

Undertale: The Kotaku Review – Nathan Grayson reviewing a video game and, to an extent, reviewing himself. This is simultaneously raw and polished stuff—and makes me want to play Undertale!

At First I Didn’t Succeed, So I Tried 45 More Times – My story that’s partially about a Batman game but really about how one deals with repeated failure and eventually succeeds.

Best EvNarc comics articles: A tie between his piece on the new Adrian Tomine and his NSFW piece on Sex Criminals

Best old quote:Obviously it’s a very slow news day, and people are very bored.” – former Sega exec shooting down accurate 2001 IGN report about Sega making games for non-Sega systems.

Best headline: Nintendo Wanted GoldenEye To End With You Shaking Everyone’s Hands
