On Christmas day, many gamers around the world found that they couldn’t play many of their favorite games anymore. The reason? The online services powering these games, such as PSN and Xbox Live, were down—and a group of alleged hackers claimed responsibility for it. Today, Xbox Live seems to mostly be up and running. PSN…

UncategorizedFive Nights at Freddy’s Parody Turns The Game Into A JRPG About Sex
It’s hard to describe Five Nights at Fuckyboy’s 2. It’s not what you would call “good,” in the same way that 420BLAZEIT isn’t exactly “good.” But they are both hilarious and weird. The game takes the characters from Five Nights at Freddys, and puts them in a JRPG game where you battle party favors and…

Just in time for the day after Christmas, Advanced Warfare has added a new team-based multiplayer mode that’s all sniper rifle action, all the time. Yup. That’s pretty much the entire experience, right there. Ferhod might be using the Heavy from Team Fortress in this video, but they manage to nail the hilarious spirit of Skyrim anyway. Amazing. Skyrim in a nutshell – SFM [Ferhod]

Rockstar Games has changed its plans and decided to continue to give out Christmas gifts in Grand Theft Auto Online at least a day after Christmas, since so many players were unable to grab them on the 25th. What Are Your Favorite Made-Up Smash Bros. Mini-Games?
The advent of “Smashketball” showed that some of the best parts of this new Smash generation are the ones players create for themselves. Nintendo doesn’t make it easy to share custom stages or rulesets with one another, so the best way to share stuff is by talking online. What are the best made-up games you’ve…

SimCity Purists Are Understandably Upset About The Newest SimCity
The new SimCity game for iOS and Android may have a four-star user-review rating on the iTunes app store, but a glance at those reviews—and some time playing the game—make it clear that this city’s got some problems. I know, I know: “Oh, it’s Kotaku harumphing about a new SimCity game again.” But, well… have…

UncategorizedFans Have Spent Six Years Making A Pokémon Game That Feels Fresh
Pokémon Uranium isn’t your typical Pokémon fan game. The developers seem to be pouring everything into making a game that looks fresh—a quality that is unusual for the franchise. Taking inspiration from real-world places like Rio de Janeiro, the game takes place somewhere very different from any existing Pokémon games. You’ll still be collecting 8…

CultureNine Obscure Adventure Games We Wish Had Sequels
Every few years, someone will sound the death knell for adventure games and then some developer will come along and break up the eulogy. Most recently, it was Telltale with The Walking Dead, and Quantic Dream with Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy (also known as Fahrenheit). Adventure games began as some of the earliest attempts at…

UncategorizedHideo Kojima Trolled Everyone On Christmas, Because of Course He Did
On Christmas day, diehard Metal Gear Solid fans faithfully tuned into a broadcast called Kojima Station. The hope was that Kojima would give fans a neat look behind-the-scenes on Metal Gear Solid V. Maybe he’d even give people a release date. Who knows! So fans watched this stream for almost three hours. Kojima opened presents…

Hundreds of Star Wars Comics Are On Sale…Before They Disappear
Dark Horse Comics, publisher of Star Wars comics since the early 1990s, won’t be allowed to sell any more after New Year’s Eve when Marvel takes over the franchise. So they’re putting all of them on sale. That’s half-price per issue or, if you prefer, $300 for the full 28,353 pages’ worth. Our friends at…

UncategorizedThe First Kirby Game I Really Care About In Years
Despite his iconic presence as one of Nintendo’s foremost disgustingly cute characters, Kirby hasn’t had a good, solid game of his own in a while. And while Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is taking a quirky route to stardom, this new trailer for the Japanese version of the game makes me think that’s a good…

UncategorizedOld Folks Try QWOP, Are Also Utterly Confused
You can see the gears turning as they figure out that moves have to be coordinated in a rhythmic fashion to get your QWOPer to qwoperate (had to), but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating for them. This isn’t the first time YouTube channel React has had elders try out video game phenomenon for…

Sword Art Online Finishes Strong with a Powerfully Human Tale
Sword Art Online is an anime with a great first half plagued by a mediocre second half. Luckily, Sword Art Online II does not suffer from a similar affliction. Vastly different from its murder-mystery first half, SAO II ends strong with a powerfully human tale that serves as the emotional high point of the franchise.…
