Top Nintendo Creator: Link Should Be Played By a Woman in a Zelda Movie

Nintendo doesn’t have plans—that we know of—to put any of their iconic characters into big-budget movies. But the guy who helped shape some of the most beloved Legend of Zelda games thinks that woman should play Link if a movie happens. The MTV video above (via GoNintendo) features Shigeru Miyamoto and A Link to the…

Now who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? I am. Riot published a short story on its website last night to fill out the backstory for the new League of Legends champion Kindred, and it confirms my earlier suspicions that they’re extremely creepy. Read it here; it’s a tad long, but well worth it.

Pausing In A Porta Potty In Metal Gear Solid V Makes Me Happy

As I write this, Venom Snake is waiting in a Porta Potty north of Kabul during a sandstorm. I feel a little bad about it, to be honest. I’d rather leave him at Mother Base or with Pequod in his helicopter. In a pinch, though, when Snake is in the field conducting an operation and…

Marvel’s Newest Nick Fury Comic Has a Time-Traveling Super-Racist and a Very Special Guest Star

There are two Nick Furys in the current version of the Marvel Universe: a younger black guy and the original white super-spy who’s his dad. This week, they meet in a time-travel story that shows how the racial tension in America today isn’t all that different from the how it was in the bad old…

Destiny’s Secret ‘Black Spindle Challenge’ Was Amazing

Yesterday, Destiny players uncovered a secret challenge hiding in a back corner of the daily heroic story mission. If you could clear a ridiculously difficult gauntlet of ridiculously difficult enemies in a ridiculously short amount of time, you’d get a ridiculously cool gun called Black Spindle. It was wild. After failing multiple times last night,…

Grand Theft Auto V, As Reviewed By Significant Others

By now, everyone’s read reviews of Grand Theft Auto V from people who have played it. So we thought we’d bring you some reviews from people who haven’t. Thanks to the power of crowdsourcing and Kinja™, we’ve rounded up some reviews of the fifth GTA from boys and girls across the globe who have watched…

Twitch Still Doesn’t Want You To Stream Erotic Games

Rinse and Repeat, the latest from provocative designer Robert Yang, was recently banned from being streamed on Twitch. There are only 14 games on Twitch’s list so far, and Yang’s made two of them. Yang’s game, which Kotaku wrote about last weekend, is about showering with other men. It’s meant to be erotic and, for…

The Best Kind Of Ezreal Ult In League Of Legends

Sometimes there are moments in League of Legends when everything lines up so perfectly that you end up knocking down all five of your opponents like the helpless bowling pins that they are. This is the story of one such moment. Context: Ezreal, the blond-haired dude seen above, is a ranged fighter in League of…

A Great Tool For Making The Leap To Dota 2

Let’s say you’ve dabbled in League of Legends, but have always been afraid to give Dota 2 a shot. Sure, all the characters are free in Dota, you might say, and it supports rad mods, and it has a super sexy new client, but…isn’t it supposed to be really fucking hard? Boy, have I got…

Laserlife: The Kotaku Review

I felt like I needed a third eye to play Laserlife. That’s a good thing. Laserlife demands that you look at all of the stuff going on inside its searing psychedelic levels but react to only some of it. The giant flowers snatching miniature stars out of the void? Pay them no mind. The undulating…

FIFA 16 vs PES 2016: Which Is Better?

The King is dead. Long live the King. For almost as long as I’ve been comparing these two games—traditional “reviews” seemed increasingly pointless as the years wore on, especially since people generally only wanted to know which of the two they should side for—one has been outright better than the other. EA’s FIFA, flush with…

That Time Microsoft Ran A Live Game Show On Xbox 360

Anyone recall Xbox Live Primetime, Microsoft’s push to do game shows on Xbox Live? No? That’s probably because 1 vs. 100, based on the television show of the same name, was the only one Microsoft ever produced. Yes, that actually happened. Xbox Live Primetime was announced by former Xbox executive Robbie Bach at CES 2009,…

The Closest Thing To A New Star Trek Game

The days of unique Star Trek simulators, based on The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine or Voyager are long over, but a superb model of the USS Enterprise from TNG, made by Jason B in Unreal Engine 4, shows how a Star Trek game like that would look today. Jason B remade not just the…

A Game of Thrones Style Intro For World of Warcraft

Interestingly nobody did a World of Warcraft version of the Game of Thrones intro yet, despite the fact that Azeroth’s map is similar to Westeros. Animator Marc Ottensmann is here to close this hole with his fantastic clip. First we see the orcish capital Orgrimmar and the cliffs of Thunder Bluff shaping up, then after…

A Spectacular Minecraft Rant About Boats

Boats in Minecraft, due to their durability (or lack thereof), have been nigh impossible (or at least highly aggravating) to use on anything but the open sea for years now. One player took to Reddit to vent a bit on the matter. And thank goodness he did. Redditor AllPurposeNerd wrote down his thoughts in a…
