Unsung Story Is A $660,000 Kickstarter Disaster

In January of 2014, a company called Playdek launched a Kickstarter promising a spiritual successor to one of my favorite games, Final Fantasy Tactics. It made $660,126. I really wish I hadn’t backed it. I and 15,823 other suckers gave money to Playdek last year for Unsung Story, a game they said would be “a…

That Big Pharma Jerk Also Owns A League of Legends Team

Did you know the most hated pharmaceutical executive in America also owns professional League of Legends and Dota 2 teams? It’s true! Martin Shkreli, the CEO who instantly gained internet notoriety yesterday for jacking up the price of a drug used to treat cancer patients and people with AIDS by more than 5,000 percent, happens…

My Quest To Make The Ugliest House In The New Animal Crossing

For months, I’ve had a specific if not dubious plan for Happy Home Designer. An evil scheme. A dastardly design. I’ve been waiting a long time to make this happen, damn it. The upcoming Animal Crossing game isn’t like the others. Instead of being the new kid in an already established village, Happy Home Designer…

Fan Turns The Simpsons‘ Opening Into Bizarre Nightmare

Homer… has… changed. As if the original opening credits of The Simpsons weren’t full of small gags, French artist Yoann Hervo redrew the whole thing in a really trippy, nightmarish way. It also has a damaged VHS tape effect, just to make it look more authentic. Something you’d find in the basement after decades, with…

Minecraft, You Do a Pretty Good Laputa

Oh hey, another wallpaper-worthy Minecraft build. Built and submitted to Planet Minecraft by adybuddy_, this recreation of the eponymous structure from Ghibli’s Castle in the Sky is supposed to have a “movie-like feel.” It does, I think, especially in that very first render. Nice. Have a look for yourself below. No world download included with…

Chewbacca’s Secret Life in Japan

Star Wars: The Force Awakens won’t be out until December. If you are Chewbacca (and really, why aren’t you?), that means you have time to kill. In Japan, that’s exactly what the wookiee has been doing. Or at least what Star Wars superfan Ryutaro Suzuki has had Chewbacca doing. Below, you can see Chewie’s adventures…

WASD? This Keyboard Is WAFFLES

Not only that, but there is also mouse-shaped bread. Nexon might be best known for its online games, but as pointed out by tipster Sang, the cafe at the company’s computer museum in South Korea is serving up some imaginative treats. [Photo: Agata0719] [Photo: Gaedoongdoong] Keyboard waffles! Yes, yes, yes!! [Photo: Prram] [Photo: Yeonsili] I…

An Open Apology To D-Dog

D-Dog. I’m sorry. You’ve had a hard life. Such a hard life. When I found you, you were naught but a pup, abandoned. What happened to your mother? I don’t know. Perhaps we’ll never know. I found you helpless in the Afghanistan desert. I took you in. I wasn’t around much, but Ocelot treated you…

4chan Has Been Sold…To The Creator Of 2Channel

Christopher Poole, the founder of internet imageboard 4chan, has sold the company to Hiroyuki Nishimura, the founder of Japanese site 2channel, itself a direct inspiration for 4chan’s creation in the first place. The NY Times reports that Poole “declined to disclose the terms of the acquisition”, and also “does not expect to serve an active…

Witcher 3 Cosplay Is Giving Me Chills…

I know, I know, we’ve run a ton of Witcher 3 cosplay lately, but they’ve all been based on the ladies of the game. This? This is some A+ Wild Hunt cosplay. It’s getting frosty in here… Both Eredin and Imlerith are by French cosplayer Tarrer, while the Wild Hunt rider is by compatriot Kuma.…

An Awesome Moment From The Heroes Of The Storm Americas Finals

The Heroes of the Storm Americas finals went down in Las Vegas this weekend, giving rise to many big plays that impressed fans and spectators. One moment from the grand finals stood out as a real show-stopper. It all came down to a face-off between two of the Act I bosses in Diablo III. The…

Holy Shit This Metal Gear Cosplay

Japanese cosplayer Masazi dressed up as Raiden for this year’s Tokyo Game Show, and it is one of the most impressive cosplay outfits I have ever seen. I mean, the suit itself is enough to get hands clapping, but the work that’s gone into that motorized helmet just boggles the mind. You can see more…
