Comparing A Manga To Its Live-Action Movie

We’ve seen how the live-action Gintama actors in costume stack up againstthe original characters, but now let’s compare how individual manga panels compare to the upcoming movie version. These comparisons are via Twitter user Hamachan: Looks like many of the camera set-ups came straight from the source material! Kotaku East is your slice of Asian…

Holy Crap, This Japanese Mascot

Not all Japanese mascots are cute. Some are truly odd. Then, there’s this character, known as “Nazo no Sakana” or “The Mysterious Fish.” It’s a new mascot for the Chiba Lotte Marines, which already has three mascots (Zu-chan, Rine, and Cool.) What sets Nazo no Sakana apart is, well, everything. Kotaku East is your slice…

Overwatch Cosplay Rap Video Is Just The Best

That’s a lot to take in there (cosplay! rap! live-action!), but this is one hell of an effort from a team of French Overwatch fans. Everything here works! The rap is just fine (it’s in French, but there are English subtitles). The live-action effects are pretty good! And the cosplay is exceptional UPDATE: Ah, seems…

The Week In Games: Armed And Dangerous

This week is E3, which means tons of games are getting announced and none of them are actually coming out, at least not right now. Except apparently Nintendo didn’t get the memo. It’s first new IP to debut on the Switch arrives this Friday after a week of bad t-shirts, memes, and undiluted hype. What…

Everything Bethesda Announced At E3 2017

Bethesda won the award for latest E3 press conference of 2017, bringing us a late-night event from BethesdaLand, their own self-styled amusement park. Among other things they debuted sequels to Wolfenstein and The Evil Within, along with a new Dishonored game. There weren’t any huge surprises, but at least they kept things moving along. And there’s…

Last year at E3, Betheda teased a new Wolfenstein game. This year they’re announcing it, showing off Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus for the first time. The game, a follow-up to the excellent Wolfenstein: New Order (and less excellent Old Blood), again has us playing as BJ Blazkowicz, and appears to take us beyond Europe…

Bethesda Announces ‘Creation Club’ For Fallout 4 And Skyrim

Remember paid mods and the fiasco that ensued after they launched? Well, Bethesda wants you to know that Creation Club—coming this summer to Skyrim and Fallout 4—isn’t that. But it does sound kinda similar. The basic idea is that developers within Bethesda as well as “some with external partners who have worked on our games,…

Are we more stoked about BioWare’s Anthem than Destiny 2? (The answers: No, no, hard to say.) Listen here: As always,…

Let’s Just Appreciate Sea Of Thieves’ Water For A Second

Sea of Thieves is a game about pirates, so if there’s one thing developers Rare need to get right, it’s the water. I have a thing about video game water. Whether it’s waves lapping the shore in Total War or the rolling seas of Assassin’s Creed IV, I’ve always been fascinated by the work that…
