UncategorizedCrazy Dragon Ball Z Fighting Game Is Actually A Half-Life Mod
You know how Half-Life is a first-person shooter? Yeah, here’s a mod for it that transforms the game into a third-person Dragon Ball Z fighting game, complete with the series’ trademark insane battle effects. It’s called Earth’s Special Forces, and I’ve actually written about it before here on Kotaku. But that was five years ago,…

Enter the Gungeon just got a new patch for the Switch version to address a number of bugs. While it plays great on the handheld overall, crashing at random points has been an issue. Hopefully no more. A hotfix for a few smaller glitches is also on the way.

Battlegrounds Kill So Good, Even PlayerUnknown Shared It
Sometimes, when you die in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, you’ve just gotta laugh. If you’re really lucky, PlayerUnknown himself might decide to laugh about it with you. PUBG player lolbeetlejuice posted an incredible clip in which they lobbed a grenade in the general direction of an enemy, only for that grenade to launch the enemy, shotgun aloft,…

UncategorizedEndless Space 2’s Sci-Fi Expansion Picks Up Where Endless Legend’s Fantasy Story Ended
One of the cool things about Amplitude’s Endless games is that, despite their vastly different settings, they inhabit a shared fictional universe. A universe that’s about to get a lot closer as a faction from Endless Legend makes the jump to Endless Space The Vaulters, my favourite faction from Endless Legend (and stars of the…

A Keyboard For Serious PUBG Players
The space bar of Varmilo’s “Chicken Dinner” keyboard is no substitute for actually winning a round of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, but it might serve as a reminder of past triumphs, depending on how good you are. Chinese company Varmilo makes a nice keyboard, and it’s not afraid to go a little crazy with the custom keycaps.…

Nearly Half Of All Overwatch League Matches So Far Have Been 4-0 Sweeps
Of last night’s three Overwatch League matches, two were complete blowouts that left no doubt as to which team was leaps, bounds, and jetpack boosts ahead of the other. The evening’s first match was a showdown between my dear orange-clad boys in SF Shock and the also-orange (but a worse orange) Philadelphia Fusion. The match…

UncategorizedThe Gorgeous Indie Game Vane Won’t Be Out For A Long While
Vane is an exploration game where you play as a young kid that sometimes transforms into a bird. The trailers released since it was revealed in 2014 have each beenbeautiful, moody cinematic shorts unto themselves. It was supposed to be released last year, but wasn’t. And it might not come out this year, either, said…

UncategorizedStrategy Game Picks Up Where Moby Dick Left Off
Last night, playing the new indie game Nantucket, I kept yelling, “No one kills Jerry!” I was attached to my long-suffering crewmember, but more attached to the massive damage he dealt to whales. Granted, I had shouted the same thing about his predecessor Harold, who fell when I refused to retreat from a massive blue…

CultureSnacktaku Eats Hot And Spicy Cinnamon Oreos On A Very Cold Day
In 2017, Snacktaku pledged it would no longer be a slave to Nabisco’s relentless barrage of novelty Oreo flavors. Now it’s 2018, and it’s so cold we’ll put anything with the word “hot” on the package in our mouth. Arriving just in time for Snacktaku’s hometown of Hotlanta to change its name to Holy F***ing…

Darkest Dungeon Is Easier To Play On Switch
There is no bad version of Darkest Dungeon, but playing on the Switch might be the best way to play the upsetting medieval stress management sim. The Switch’s controls elevate the game into the best version of itself and make me a better player. There are very few things about Darkest Dungeon that I dislike,…

UncategorizedMetal Gear Survive‘s Beta Is Fun, But It’s Not Metal Gear
Metal Gear Survive, the bizarre zombie horde survival game that really has nothing to do with Metal Gear, kicked off an open beta yesterday. It’s surprisingly fun to play but lacks the heart and quirkiness that drew people to the series to begin with. After Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami took a…

UncategorizedGood Video Game Sex Scenes Are Hard To Make
There are a lot of terrible sex scenes in mainstream games. There are also a handful of good ones, as seen in games like The Witcher 3. But even in that game’s case, creating believable sex scenes wasn’t easy. Video game technology is great if you want characters to make war; not so much if…

Leveling In World Of Warcraft Is Fun Again
Before this week’s 7.3.5 update hit, leveling a freshly-made character in World of Warcraft as an experienced player was little more than a chore to do before getting to the good high-level stuff. With the introduction of level-scaling and changes to experience point requirements and monster health, leveling up is now a more enjoyable experience.…
