Kotaku EastK-Pop Pick Of The Day: 2 1 2
Urban Zakapa is one of Korea’s more prolific R&B groups, with five full albums and multiple extended plays, plus a bevy of K-drama soundtrack contributions, counted in their relatively young careers. 2 1 2 is the title track from Urban Zakapa’s third extended play album, UZ, released in 2015. It’s one of my favorites, with…

Anthem’s New Update Adds More Loot And More Bugs
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Anthem gets a new update. The changes in the new update all look promising. Then, upon closer inspection, not all of the improvements are working as intended, and a few things that had previously been fixed are now busted again. Anthem’s been there before and after today’s…

CultureOthercide is a horror-themed take on XCOM-like turn-based strategy. It focuses on “the sacrifices you must make to prevent reality from shattering”—so, you know, light, easygoing fare that’s only as serious as few heart attacks. There’ll be a system that lets you interrupt enemy attacks, which sounds interesting. It’s out later this year.

UncategorizedRPG Publisher Says Chinese Government Burned Every Copy Of Their Latest Book
Sons of the Singularity, a small publisher of RPGs, ran a Kickstarter last year for a Call of Cthulu sourcebook, successfully raising over $20,000. Called The Sassoon Files, it was finally printed last week, only for the publisher to claim that the Chinese government then stepped in and burned every copy. Via Boing-Boing, here’s Sons…

Grand Heist’s DLC Maps Help Tell Black Ops 4’s Missing Story
Subtle story clues can be found within Black Ops 4’s multiplayer maps that you might’ve missed. I love Treyarch’s Easter eggs and attention to map detail, and the recent additions of multiplayer maps Casino and Lockup made available with the Black Ops DLC Pass leave behind even more to explore. Treyarch definitely created a very…

Final Fantasy XV’s Episode Ardyn DLC Made Me A Fan Of The Villain
Final Fantasy XV’s final installment of downloadable content and its animated prologue have changed the way I feel about the game’s roguish antagonist. Not only is Ardyn Izunia a much more sympathetic figure now, he’s also a complete warp-striking, demon-converting bad-ass. Don’t expect Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn, available today for $10 on PlayStation 4,…

CultureTwitchWhat Europe’s New Copyright Law Means For Twitch And YouTube
If you live in the European Union, or if you’re an avid fan of European politics (and who isn’t?), you’ve probably heard about Article 13 in the past handful of months. And if you heard about Article 13 from someone on the internet, that person probably didn’t have kind things to say about it. Article…

Looking Back On Super Meat Boy Creator’s Controversial 2008 Flash Game
Edmund McMillen—the guy who you might know from Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac, or even just Indie Game: The Movie—used to make Flash games. I used to play Flash games. Lots of them, in fact. It’s been over a decade since my Flash game heyday, and I’m starting to realize how many of…

Five months after the release of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a legendary sword first teased during an E3 demo is now finally in the game. An update out today adds a new quest line called “A Friend Worth Dying For,” the reward for which is the serpent-headed kopis-style blade players have long been awaiting. YouTuber JorRaptor…

Mega SG Is An Amazing HDMI Sega Genesis For The Hardcore Retro Nerd
The Sega Genesis has had by far the longest shelf life of any of the 16-bit systems. You could buy Sega’s final “Genesis 3″ model in stores until the early 2000s, and just a few years later, the AtGames released licensed plug-and-play machines, some with Genesis cartridge slots. For the last 30 years, you’d likely…

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: The Kotaku Review
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the thread between life and death is tenuous. As the One-Armed Wolf, a loyal shinobi seeking to save a young noble with a cursed bloodline, you traverse a feudal Japan so saturated with the remnants of war that the idea of mortality becomes fickle: dead bodies blending in with the…

Exploring the entirety of space is impossible in the real world, but it’s now been done in EVE Online. A player by the in-game name Katia Sae is the first player to have officially visited every one of the game’s 7,805 star systems. Even more impressive, they did it without losing a single ship to…

The Walking Dead‘s Final Episode Is A Satisfying Ending
The Walking Dead: The Final Season started strong, with Telltale’s talented storytellers crafting a compelling new scenario for Clementine to navigate. After the company’s closure, the fate of the season looked shaky, and Skybound Games took over finishing it up. Ultimately, the finale sticks the landing, closing the book on one of gaming’s best stories.…
