WipEout HD Leaves The Garage A Bit Buggy
The release of WipEout HD was a long time a-comin' and, unfortunately, its launch on the PlayStation Store is not without its problems. PlayStation 3 owners are reporting that their copies of the SCEE developed hoverracer are locking up, with users pointing to larger friend lists as a potential source of the problem. We contacted Sony PR to find out more.

Play WipeOut HD, Your Life/Brain Is In Your Own Hands
Don't think it was ever confirmed confirmed, but it was strongly suggested that WipeOut HD's lengthy delay was the result of the game failing epilepsy tests. That suggestion looks pretty likely today, with the news that the game's going to ship with the mother of all epilepsy warnings at the front. Every time you play the game, you'll have to scroll through a large warning message that goes above and beyond what you'd normally expect, with the message dealing mostly with the games "flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns". If you're sensitive to that sort of stuff, be warned.

WipeOut HD Not Only Priced, But Dated As Well
WipeOut HD is a "coming sometime in the future" game no more. Sony have announced when the game will be out, and friends, it will be out soon. September 25, to be precise, and when out on September 25 will set you back $20. For that $20 you're getting, amongst other things, 8 tracks, splitscreen racing (offline only) for two players, or if you're up for a bigger challenge, 8-player online multiplayer.

WipeOut HD Priced (For Britain)
WipeOut HD should be coming out later this year. It's meant to, anyways, but with this game, you can never be too sure. Anyway, when it does (hopefully) come out later this year, we now know how much it'll cost: £11.99. Which works out to be USD$21, AUD$26, ¥2,260 and, for our South African readers, 172 Rand. You'll need to adjust for local store variations when it hits, though, so expect the US price to be a little lower and the Australian to maybe be a little higher.

Wipeout HD One-Year Anniversary Impressions
It's been a year since we first went hands on with Wipeout HD, the (eventual) PlayStation Network release that acts as a sort of remastered greatest hits comp from the series' past decade. The SCEE developed racer may have looked pretty sharp the last time we saw it, but it looks light years beyond that now.
So, happy anniversary Wipeout HD! We got you the traditional gift — hands-on impressions! More »

Sexy New WipEout HD Screens
We enjoyed the hell out of a pre-release Wipeout HD at last year's Games Convention. But the PlayStation Network release is looking noticeably more impressive in its showing this year, what with its fancy pants new menus and graphical upgrades. We sat down with the PlayStation 3 game — which is hopefully coming soon — today to get an update on how its looking (sharp!) and how it plays (the same!), but we'll bore you with our hands-on impressions of Wipeout HD after we do more than just lose three races and clumsily navigate German language menus. How does tomorrow work for you? Excellent! Enjoy the new screens.

WipEout HD Delayed So They Can Add Loads Of New Stuff
As you can tell by the fact you still can’t buy it, WipEout HD has been delayed. Rumours suggest the reason for the hold-up could be epilepsy tests, it could be glitchy online play, it could be anything and everything in between. But what do Sony have to say about the whole thing? They’ve got a very sensible answer:
The reason for the delay of WipEout HD on PS3 has been due to the many improvements we have been making and the numerous features we've added to the game. These include: 8 reverse tracks, 4 extra ships, 2 alternative HUDS, 2 Player offline split screen and XMB Trophy support. We look forward to sharing WipEout HD with you very soon.
Regarding the speculation about health issues, we can assure you that we take consumer safety very seriously and monitor it very carefully.
That last line doesn’t entirely rule out the epilepsy stuff, but that first paragraph is making the wait sound worth it regardless.

Is WipEout HD Failing An Epilepsy Test?
Considering the version we played at TGS last September looked pretty slick, the continued absence of WipEout HD from the PSN is a puzzling one. SCEE's David Reeves said last week the delay is down to a "really, really tricky technical problem", but failed to go into specifics. What kind of problems can cause such a long delay? Here's a possibility: the game's failing important, necessary epilepsy tests. That notion was raised in the comments of our post, and have now been raised by CVG as well, though it's important to note that this is far from confirmed, and Sony have yet to comment on the claims. As far-fetched as they sound (it could just as easily be something like, oh, online MP issues).

WipEout HD Has "A Specific Technical Problem"
One of the best PS3 games we've laid our hands on over the past 12 months has been the PSN version of classic PlayStation racer WipEout. It was playable all the way back at TGS, and has been playable at various events since, and yet at E3 this year, it was nowhere. No mention of it, no mention of a release date. So what gives? Looks as if while most of the game simply sings, some of it doesn't, with the game plagued by a "really, really tricky technical problem" that nobody at Sony has been able to fix. As a result, they're hoping the game will be out by Christmas, but just can't guarantee it. Bummer.
