Seriously, we're not kidding. Were today two days from now you might have cause to question our daily selection of spotlight-worth mobile games, but I specifically set up the Gregorian calendar to make sure that never happened.
If today were Sunday... well, then all bets would be off. I'd have a round-up of five popular games for the Nokia N-Gage, and by popular I mean played by more than one person. I might have to drop the list down to four or three.
But no, fair and noble reader. You can rest assured that there was no humorous intent behind the inclusion of a $20 Square Enix RPG, or a game about dodging bullets with pigs. Swordigo earned its spot, as did Crytek's Fibble, despite being a far cry from the sort of games they normally produce.
The jury's still out on Madcoaster, however. One can never tell with the wily Tina Amini.
If you have a suggestion for an app for the iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows Phone 7 that you'd like to see highlighted, let us know.
Shoot the Pig with this Bullet Hell Trainer
I love bullet hell shooters-you know, those insane shoot ‘em up games in which you pilot a small craft into a storm of projectiles. They're great. And the iOS handles them pretty well, too. More »

This Fun Hack ‘n Slash Platformer is Basically Zelda Meets Mario
Wow, that sounds like one heck of a ringing endorsement! But while Touch Foo's Swordigo isn't quite the magical amazingness suggested by the combination of two of the greatest gaming franchises of all time, it is more or less the result of a mechanical combination of the two games. Action-RPG Zelda hacking and slashing meets 2D Mario platforming. Sound fun? It is! Swordigo's story plays like a deliberate (almost winking) Zelda homage, in which you take on the role of a blue-haired youngster who sets out to save his people from the rising of an evil presence. In Lieu Of A Real Rollercoaster Ride, Side-Scroll Through Madcoaster
I'm a fan of constant, yet simple side-scrolling platformers. A week ago today we saw one inspired by the Hunger Games film. But today I'd like to introduce Madcoaster. Madcoaster doesn't ask much of its players in terms of the controls. You simply tap the screen to jump, and swipe downwards to transition from higher levels back to the ground floor. But it does ask a lot of its players once the game starts dropping in birds that can be hit for points, or when you stumble on the rows and rows of coins to be collected. More »
