There’s no Dark Souls player we’ve featured on Kotaku as much as Iron Pineapple. He’s the guy who dressed up as Shrek to protect his swamp, donned spiked armor to run everyone over, and pooped on the ground to strike fear into other players. I decided to ask him the big question: why? “I’m just…
The Talos Principle, one of the smartest puzzle games from the last few years, is getting a sequel, the developer announced today. It’s unclear when it’s coming (or where in the story it’s set), but this is very good news.
Hitman’s second Elusive Target, The Congressman, will appear on May 27th, Io announced on their blog. The mission will take place in Sapienza and, like the first Elusive Target, will only be available for 48 hours.
Great shot kid, that was one in a million. (Actually, that’s being very unfair, this looks like it took a ton of work to get the positioning right).
One of Minecraft’s more remarkable side-effects is how it gave rise to (or, indeed, popularised) an entirely new genre: the survival game. Steam is absolutely packed with survival games, many of them unfinished and a surprising number of them pretty damn good regardless. Tough and uncompromising wilderness survival sims like The Long Dark and The…
Destiny’s next expansion is called Rise of Iron, according to leaked marketing materials that popped up on Reddit last night. The expansion, which is expected in September, should be officially revealed at E3. Two sources familiar with Bungie confirmed the authenticity of this poster to Kotaku last night. The Rise of Iron expansion will feature…
It’s an election year, which means there’s been a lot of Bad Twitter. Shining like a light in the darkness, though, is the only political account I’m going to follow in 2016: Dungeons And Donalds The premise is simple: See? Good Twitter
At its I/O 2016 show earlier in the week, Google slipped in some news that Play Store apps—with special focus on games—will now have a section in the store called “Google Play Early Access”, which works pretty much exactly the same as Steam’s Early Access. It’s designed for apps “that are available only as open…
Don’t expect to play Trials of Osiris this weekend, Destiny fans. Thanks to a glitch involving weapon perks and an unlimited supply of heavy ammo, Bungie has cancelled it. The glitch, which was discovered earlier this week, allows players to use raid weapons with the Cocoon perk to trigger Clown Cartridge on rocket launchers, which…
You might not have dug into Uncharted 4‘s extensive set of accessibility features, but for fans with disabilities, they’re incredibly important. The reason Uncharted 4 has so many is thanks to a fortuitous meeting at GDC. This touching meeting was outlined in a video from Sony today: One of the appointments that Naughty Dog UI…
Here, courtesy of developer CD Projekt Red, is a new trailer for The Witcher 3‘s upcoming Blood and Wine expansion. Really, all they had to do was say “look, more Witcher 3.” But this is cool too. If you’re anything like me and have only spent like 40 hours with The Witcher 3 so you’re…
Overwatch’s characters ooze personality. Sometimes, they literally ooze it. It might look all wrong, but it’s 100 percent intentional, a byproduct of some very particular animation techniques. If you’re a frequenter (oh hey I guess that’s a real word) of Overwatch-obsessed portions of the Internet, you might have seen the occasional still of McCree looking…
Doom was a cultural phenomenon in the 90s, which meant movie deals, action figures, novelizations, and comic books. A line from the comics has become a meme over the years, and it’s slyly referenced in the new game. The new Doom opens with an ominous demonic symbol and voice over: “They are rage, brutal, without…
Wandering around Fallout 4’s version of South Boston, you may come across a prick called Parker Quinn. Quinn tries to sell you a “charge card,” a new currency that is supposed to replace caps. Sounds like a total scam, right? But, lets say you take the bait and buy the charge card. Surprise: the card…
One very cool part of the Halo series is coming to the PC this year, but you’ll still need to own an Xbox One to take full advantage of it. It’s a step in the right direction! In fits and starts, Microsoft seems to be taking PC gaming more seriously with Windows 10. In that…
Gran Turismo Sport, a spin-off of Sony’s long-running racing simulation franchise, will arrive on November 15, Sony announced today. A proper sequel, likely to be called Gran Turismo 7, is in development alongside Gran Turismo Sport
This incredible SupahotDestiny animation was made by Matt Oishi, an animator whose work you can find on his Tumblr page He’s not a rapper, though. Another one of my favorites by Oishi:
Here, we have body paint wizard Kay Pike once again showing off her amazing skills. The cel shading looks straight out of a Dragon Ball anime. Pike opening her eyes and smiling do not! Besides painting herself (!!!), Pike also made the little prosthetic Piccolo antennae, which certainly help complete the effect. Impressive work. Bravo.
Via Eurogamer, here’s Zero Master playing through Doom’s hardest difficulty level—Ultra Nightmare—without dying a single time. Which is quite the feat.
