Evo 2017 is finally upon us. That means lots of triumphant victories and heartbreaking loses. Also a ton of anime.
You can check out our guide to the year’s biggest fighting game event for details on what games will be featured and what players to keep an eye on, but don’t worry, there’s also plenty going on in the broader world of esports, including Overwatch World Cup group stage matches and the first round of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s PGL Major Kraków 2017.
Below you’ll find where and when you can catch all the weekend’s biggest events in competitive gaming. Let us know what you’ll be watching in the comments or if you think there’s something we might have missed.
Street Fighter V
While Evo features a number of different fighting games, SFV remains the event’s premier tournament. Contenders to win it include last year’s champion, Seon-woo “Infiltration” Lee, as well as the winner of last year’s Capcom Cup, Du “NuckleDu” Dang, and rising star Victor “Punk” Woodley who has established his talent across this year’s late winter and early spring tournaments.
You can find a complete rundown of the schedule and streams for Evo 2017 here, with a schedule for every game and corresponding live stream below.
Smash Bros.
Smash Bros. Melee and Smash Wii U (known as Smash 4) will also feature prominently at the event. In the GameCube game, Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma looking to defend his title while a slew of top-tier challengers try to stop that from happening. In Smash 4, it looked like Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios would be unbeatable as he stacked up victories last fall, but more recently cracks have surfaced in the pro’s performance that might provide an opening for the likes of Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce or Leonardo “MKLeo” Lopez to exploit.
The Melee finals are scheduled for tonight at 11:00PM EDT while Smash 4 top 8 play will be showcaded at 7:00PM EDT on Sunday. Both will be streaming live here.
Evo 2017 Cont.
Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, Injustice 2, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, King of Fighters XIV, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 also all have ongoing tournaments at this year’s Evo. You’ll be able to catch the Guilty Gear finals later today at 5:00PM EDT, followed by the rest of them on Sunday beginning at 10:45AM EDT beginning with Marvel vs. Capcom.
All of them will be streaming live here.
Anime Evo
As if that weren’t enough going on in Las Vegas this weekend, Anime Evo is going on alongside the other tournaments featuring a ton of different games. My personal favorites are Catherine, Persona 4 Arena, and Gundam VS, but you can find the complete list as well as what Twitch channel to stream the matches on in the schedule below.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
At ESL One in Cologne we saw a resurgent Cloud9 get run smack into a wall called SK Gaming. This weekend we’ll have a chance to see how dominant the latter can remain as the first round of the PGL Major Kraków 2017 takes hold. Matches start with Gambit Esports vs. Mousesports at 5:00AM EDT on Sunday and will be streaming live here.
League of Legends
After Team Solo Mid stole Rift Rivals from an over confident Unicorns of Love, the summer season returns today with the TSM taking on Phoenix1 at 3:00PM EDT. A schedule for all of the weekends LCS matches as well as the action in South Korea and China can be found here.
You can find all of the matches streaming live on each region’s respective channel (NA, EU, China, Korea).
Overwatch
The game’s second World Cup got underway this week with Group Stage matches. China and France currently lead Group A and B respectively, with matches set to resume tonight with China vs. Hong Kong at 12:00AM EDT, followed by Norway vs. Romania, France vs. Denmark, and Thailand vs. Argentina.
You can stream those matches live (or more likely catch the archived video of them Sunday morning) here.
Heroes of the Storm
Phase 2 wraps up week four this weekend with matches starting today in Europe at 12:00PM EDT with Fnatic vs. Team Dignitas. Across the ocean, Tempo Storm and Roll20 Esports kick things off at 5:00PM EDT in North America.
You can find a complete schedule for both regions as well as current standings here. The matches themselves will be streaming live here.
Smite
The Smite Pro League summer finals will be played at this weekend’s DreamHack LAN in Valencia. The $150,000 event concludes today with the finals beginning at 12:00PM EDT.
You can watch them live here.
Hearthstone
Blizzard’s card game is also making an appearance at Valencia with the $25,000 Grand Prix. The semifinals are already underway with the grand finals scheduled to start around 2:15PM EDT this afternoon.
You can watch all of the matches here.
StarCraft II
If you’ve been starved for SCII action, Valencia fortunately has you covered on that front as well. You can catch what remains of the tournament here.
Paladins
Finally the event is hosting a $100,000 Paladins tournament between eight different teams across both PC and PS4. The console grand finals are already underway, with the PC finals set to follow at 1:00PM EDT. You can stream the rest of the tournament here.
