The virtual reality side of Rockstar’s L.A. Noire revival is out today. HTC Vive owners can get up-close and personal with some of the best faces in gaming in seven self-contained cases pulled from the original game. L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is available on Steam for $29.99.

The HTC Vive is now $599, receiving its first official price drop since the virtual reality headset launched last year at $799. That puts the Vive at $100 more than the Rift/Touch combo, though the latter is current on sale for a limited time for $399. (Updated with latest Rift pricing)

Altspace, which billed itself as “the leading social platform” for VR, is shuttering on August 3rd. Investors like Comcast poured over $15 million into the project, which attracted 35,000 users per month. In a blog post, Altspace’s developers explain that funding fell through and VR market growth has been slow.

The very good rhythm game Thumper is now playable in VR on PC. It works with Vive and Rift through SteamVR and is also now on the Oculus store. Give it a go if you have the means—this game is extremely cool in VR.
