Getting Upset At Video Games Is Probably Terrible For Your Health

I tend to get angry at little things in video games. A lot. Sometimes really, really, really angry. I’m starting to think I should stop. Why? A recent study explained just how bad for us small yet frequent day-to-day stresses really are. The short version? Life-threatening. I know I’m not the only one (shit, I…

Improving One Of TV’s Worst Opening Credits Sequences

I love Boardwalk Empire. Can’t get enough of it. But I, like most others, cannot stand the show’s opening credits, which are neat the first 2-3 times you see them, but which have become unbearable now we’re years into the show’s run. Here, then, are two ways to fix this. The first is by re-creating…

Super Smash Bros Characters Sure Have Changed Over The Years

We’ve talked a bunch about Super Smash Bros‘ new characters, but what about the classics? Mario, Link, Samus, and pretty much every other major character in Nintendo history? Turns out they’ve changed since Super Smash Bros Brawl/Melee in ways both big and small. (That rhymed. I apologize.) These two videos demonstrate the tweaks and alterations…

A Tiny Hamster Eats Tiny Hot Dogs In A Tiny Eating Competition

A Tiny Hamster. Takeru Kobayashi. Two competitive eaters enter, but only one can be the champion. Let the cuteness commence. Less than 12 hours after its release, the PrimeGuard clan finished the Vaults of Glass – but not without dying quite a few times. Bungie acknowledged their accomplishment via twitter, and challenged the group to “try it on…

There’s putting form over function, and then there’s making a themed Game Boy case that’s so ornate I’m not sure it’s playable. This Donkey Kong-themed skin is one of the best custom console jobs I’ve seen. But it also raises important questions like: do those directional buttons actually work? Are those buttons made with actual…

This guy is compiling a digital book that will review over 280 computer RPGs—and when it’s done, you can get it for free. Developers like Obsidian’s Chris Avellone have already agreed to participate. “The book is going well, but I need some spotlight to travel into the far reaches of the internet and reach fans…

Bennett Foddy’s Speed Chess is not actually chess. It looks like chess and the pieces make chess moves, but it is the exact opposite of chess. And now you can play it, totally for free with up to 15 other people! Bennett Foddy (creator of QWOP and Super Pole Riders) originally made this game for…

Earlier this year, Marvel Comics debuted new variants of their Captain America and Thor characters. The new Captain America is a black man and the new Thor is a warrior woman. Those changes made a lot of fans upset. But comics legend Grant Morrison is featuring a black Superman and loads of racially diversified, gender-swapped…
