42-Player Civilization Game Is Destroying The Planet
The 42-player, AI-only Civilization game that’s currentlygoing down is already one of the most amazing things the Civilization community — no sloucheswhen it comes to weird and wonderful spins on the game — has come up with. In over 20 years playing the series I have never seen anything like this. Mostly because I’ve never…

UncategorizedWhat Happens When A Hentai Artist Makes A Soul Calibur Costume
Well. That doesn’t really look comfortable, does it? As spotted by Shoryuken, here is a costume created by Yamatogawa, a manga artist famous for hentai. Yamatogawa’s outfit is called “Magic Knight,” and characters such as Ivy and Amy can wear it in Soul Calibur: Lost Swords, a free-to-play spinoff for the PS3. So. Would you…

Real Humans Become Comic Characters
Lianne Moseley is able to turn regular human beings into comic book superheroes, using only the powers of…a make-up brush. Just look at this! She-Hulk, Green Arrow, X-Men…even Archer, who isn’t really a comic book hero, but whatever, close enough. You can see more of Lianne’s work at her Facebook page (via Fashionably Geek). Contact…

UncategorizedSpider-Man’s Dead Girlfriend Is a Kick-Ass Superhero Now
Spider-Gwen is a weird title for the newest heroine to swing through the Marvel Universe. Technically, she’s a Spider-Woman. But the ‘Gwen’ part of her moniker highlights the most potentially exciting aspect of her: she’s an alternate version of Gwen Stacy, a character most famous for how she died. Forty-two years ago, Spider-Man lost a…

UncategorizedElite: Dangerous Players Are Making Creepy Urban Legends
Watch as one Elite: Dangerous player finds out first-hand just how terrifying exploring deep space can be. In this (very fake) video, Afrothunderkat finds a strange distress signal while warping. To make matters worse, once they arrive at their destination, their ship freezes—only to start going into a critical condition. For seemingly no reason. Naturally…

CultureMod Turns Skyrim Into A Full-Blown Pirate Game
I just got done reading Red Seas Under Red Skies, so I’m super stoked on pirates right now. Luckily, I stumbled across a new Skyrim mod that turns Bethesda’s nigh-immortal fantasy role-player into a surprisingly robust pirate game. You get a ship, a crew, open seas to sail, and all sorts of loot to pillage.…

UncategorizedVR Demo Brings Shark Nightmare To life
I’m tremendously excited about virtual reality’s potential. We’ll be able to visit far-off worlds and have experiences that haven’t even been dreamed up yet! If I was making a top ten list of things I wanted to better understand through VR, however, a shark attack wouldn’t be on it. As part of a promotion for…

Fan-Made Final Fantasy Mystic Quest ‘Remake’ Seems Like A Scam
Over the past few days, you might have seen rumblings that Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, a game released for the Super Nintendo back in 1992, is getting an official remake. Turns out that’s not entirely true. This purported remake—created by a company calling themselves Dark Design Games—got a fair bit of buzz yesterday. The folks…

Elsa From Frozen Is Pretty Much Mewtwo
Here’s a kind of mind-boggling comparison. Ever notice how similar Mewtwo from Pokémon is to Elsa from Frozen? Really! Take a look at this comparison image, posted by Reddit user Nintendoreo: Ha. Of course, when you’re comparing such general tropes, it’s easy to make plots or characters sound alike. But still! It’s a fun juxtaposition.…

UncategorizedSparring With Smite‘s Latest God Of War
This morning Hi-Rez Studios added another deity to MOBA Smite‘s ever-growing stable. God of war Bellona might not be the most recognizable name in the Roman pantheon, but that’s okay—she prefers to let kicking everybody’s ass speak for her. I’ve not been a big fan of Smite’s warrior-type gods—I’m more of an assassin-fan, hitting hard…

UncategorizedIf LittleBigPlanet Were A Horror Game, It’d Look Like This
The developers of LittleBigPlanet for Vita and Tearaway Unfolded are preparing something far more unsettling. Hunger is about a little girl’s escape from a very strange place called The Maw. Tarsier has been working on Hunger since last summer, right after the studio received about $170,000 in funding for its development from the Creative Europe…

UncategorizedGuy Beats Fallout: New Vegas Without Ever Healing
After spending more than a thousand hours playing Fallout: New Vegas, a YouTuber called Many A True Nerd decided to do one more run of the game. But it wouldn’t be any old type of playthrough. This run would be a challenge, even for a Fallout master that knows the game like the back of…

UncategorizedThe People Behind Power Rangers Are Trying To Kill That Gritty Reboot [Update]
Yesterday, a fan-made Power Rangers reboot released on video hosting site Vimeo. The video, which showcased a more dark take on Power Rangers, exploded—tons of people seemed to like it. But not the people who actually make Power Rangers. Shortly after being up on Vimeo, the Power Rangers film got taken down. Thankfully, people are…
