Team Mystic Is The Pokémon Go Faction Of Choice

Over the weekend we asked Pokémon Go players which of the game’s three factions they were backing—Team Instinct, Team Mystic or Team Valor. With more than 100,000 responses recorded the big blue bird of Team Mystic reigns supreme. I’ve been watching results since the poll opened on Saturday evening, and the results have been pretty…

Sailor Moon Cosplay Works Well With Figure Skating

This isEvgenia Medvedeva. She’s a 16-year-old champion Russian figure skater. And she totally loves Sailor Moon. She not only watches the anime, but recently did a special Sailor Moon themed skate program: Which made news in Japan: Medvedeva is also studying Japanese and can apparently sing the Sailor Moon theme in its original language. One Piece Creator Appears on Japanese TV, Doesn’t Show His Face

Can you blame him? I’m sure if you created the best-selling manga in Japanese history, you might enjoy keeping your privacy. In the past, Oda has been photographed for Japanese magazines, and googling him, turns up a fistful of photos. Most of them, however, are not recent. Japanese TV program Densetsu no Shunkan wanted to…

The Gantz CG Anime Continues To Look Great

Nice work. This keeps looking very, very promising. Previously, we got a short glimpse of the upcoming Gantz:O. Now, we get a longer one, and damn, it’s difficult not to get excited. The movie is based on the Osaka chapters, and it will hit Japanese theaters on October 14. No word yet on an international…

Nobody Stop This Awesome Mask Cosplay

This is Simon Fontaine (The Mask) and Michele Paul (Tina) at the Montreal Comiccon, which went down in Canada over the weekend. We see a lot of guns and swords and rocket launchers in cosplay. What we don’t see is enough dancing, especially when it goes to the trouble of recreating the entire routine from…

$300 Statue Of Metal Gear Solid V’s Venom Snake Includes Cute Puppy

I can see your pores, Snake. Being a statue, and not an action figure, this won’t be coming with interchangeable hands and weapons and accessories. Though you can take his scarf off, and the detail on some of his gear is crazy. It’s made by Gecco, the same people behind the Quiet statue from earlier…

A Humble Final Fantasy Cosplay Request

Less Cloud cosplay, more Frans/Balthiers/Judges, please. Final Fantasy XII was the best. Cosplay by Giulietta Zawazdki, photo by Laughing Orc

When Over 2000 People Turn Up To Play Pokémon Go

I know, Pokémon Go is popular right now, but even taking its massive launch into account I haven’t seen anything quite like these events that went down in Australia over the weekend. The Pokémon Go Walk in Sydney, hastily advertised on Facebook in the wake of the game’s launch, was intended by PAX Australia’s Guy…

 Pokémon Go’s Global Launch “Paused”

As wild as the game’s initial reception has been, Pokémon Go’s launch hasn’t been without its problems. So the release of the game in places that aren’t the US, Australia or New Zealand is on hold while the developers sort things out. In an interview with Business Insider, Niantic CEO John Hanke says that while…

Being A Virtual Gravure Idol’s Personal Photographer Isn’t Easy

SoniComi: Communication with Sonico might seem like all fun and games, but once you’ve finished reading through tons of text, choosing Sonico’s outfit, setting the scene and shooting photographs while keeping her spirits up, there’s barely enough time to be a lewd jerk. But you can make time, if that’s your thing. Created in 2006…

The Week In Games: Somewhat Afraid Of The Ghostbusters Game

Early reviews for the new Ghostbusters movies are pretty good! Early reviews for the new Ghostbusters game are pretty much nonexistent, which is scary. Did you know there was a new Ghostbusters game coming out this week? You might have missed the announcement trailer from two months ago due to no one really caring all…

Despite Last-Second Drama, UFC 200 Was Everything It Needed To Be

For a little while, UFC 200 seemed cursed. The “best card ever” lost its original main event to a squabble between Conor McGregor and the UFC. Then, two days before the big show, Jon Jones got busted for a doping violation, scrapping yet another main event and sending the UFC scrambling. Don’t get me wrong:…

Robot Finishes Super Mario Bros. 3 In Two Seconds

Yesterday’s tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) block at Summer Games Done Quick ended with a Super Mario Bros. 3 run that lasted barely longer than a blink. The ridiculously rapid run is the result of a newfound glitch discovered by TAS speddrunner ais523, which basically involves pressing buttons at an extremely fast rate—some 6,000 times a second.…

A Smash Bros. Arcade Stick, Only Without The Stick

Custom peripheral maker Hit Box recently revealed the Smash Box, a custom-built Smash Bros. arcade controller that’s basically a GameCube controller with buttons instead of sticks. The folks at Hit Box believe that fingers on buttons grant more precise control over fighting games. They’ve already released a Hit Box controller for the Xbox One (with…
