With the PC version of the game installed and freshly updated, I’m finally picking away at Dark Souls. I’m liking it, but I think I’ll pass on this new mod for the game, which makes the enemies nightmarishly relentless. The mod, posted toInsane Difficulty by user JITD, makes enemies wander the map, allows them to…
Nemo Goes Retro: Part of me is glad that Finding Nemo didn’t come out in the right era to get an annoyingly difficult side-scrolling tie-in game. But part of me is also happy to imagine what it would’ve been like, helped along by this latest “8-Bit Cinema” video from Cinefix
Welcome to October, the scaaaaariest month of the year. You guys like horror movies? I get the sense that some of you do. Let’s talk horror movies. Lots of people I know have annual October traditions that revolve around horror movies. For example, today my buddy Patrick Klepek posted his annual Shocktober Horror List over…
It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with Mr. Smooth McGroove, the bearded a cappella master who, along with his feline familiar and sick vocal chops, gives our favorite video game anthems new life. Here he is with the Ice Cap Zone theme from Sonic The Hedgehog 3—it follows up on his last Sonic…
One of the coolest things about Grand Theft Auto V (and about GTA games in general) is that each player will get a slightly different soundtrack. Sure, the general playlist will remain the same, but every iconic moment may be accompanied by one of dozens of great songs. And they are great—with GTA V, Rockstar…
Crash, Boom, Bang: If GTA V hasn’t sated your need for intense car chases, Need For Speed: Rivals likely will. This latest trailer shows the new kinds of challenges they’re adding to chases, which let you unlock upgrades. I really liked Criterion’s Most Wanted (Rivals is developed by Ghost Games), and I’ll be intersted to…
The Duncan Jones-directed, possibly Colin Farrell-starring Warcraft movie will be out on December 18 of 2015, according to a tweet from Blizzard The Legendary Pictures film has been in development for a good long while now, though with Moon and Source/Code director Duncan Jones attached, it seems to have finally found traction, and now, a…
The New GTA V title update, in addition to enabling GTA Online, fixes a number of other issues players were encountering. Notably, Rockstar says that the lost car-upgrades issue should now be resolved, cash can’t get stuck below zero, and players won’t be occasionally be locked out of the Vanilla Unicorn strip club. Phew.
Blood and Thunder: Ubisoft has released the full tracklist for their guitar-teaching game Rocksmith 2014, the upcoming sequel to 2011’s Rocksmith. They’ve also released a video with some well-known rock guitarists weighing in on the software. Full tracklist below the break. Aerosmith – Walk This Way Alice Cooper – No More Mr. Nice Guy Alice…
Leagues of Lore: I watched this entire League of Legends “Lore in a Minute” video and I still don’t really know what’s going on in League of Legends. But hey, there’s a lot of lore to cover.
How freaky is the freaky computer? Well… watch this video all the way to the end. It’s around a six or seven out of ten on the freakiness scale, I’d say. Frictional Games, makers of the first Amnesia game The Dark Descent (and publisher of The Chinese Room’s sequel, A Machine for Pigs) have been…
So here we are. The show’s over, folks. The final episode of Breaking Bad has aired. Let’s give it a look, and attempt to process. Significant spoilers follow from this point on, both in the post and in the comments. Y’all have been warned. A friend asked me how I felt about the Breaking Bad…
Grand Theft Auto V has been out for a couple of weeks, but a big chunk of the game—the entire multiplayer part, actually—was missing at launch. Tomorrow, the ambitious GTA Online multiplayer suite launches as a free download for anyone who owns the base game. Tomorrow at around 7AM Eastern, to be more specific. In…
The PC version of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will come out on November 19. That’s right in between the PS4 and Xbox One versions, which will launch alongside their respective consoles on November 15 and 22. PS3, 360 and Wii U versions come out on October 29.
High-res graphics and beautiful particle effects are all well and good, but when it comes right down to it, a game’s visuals live or die on art direction. And Arkane’s 2012 stealth game Dishonored still has some of the best art direction around. The man behind that, of course, is the supremely talented art director…
Well, that was underwhelming: After announcing “the wait is over” late last week, Xi3 has revealed… some slightly more detailed specs for their $1000 Piston living-room PC, as well as a release date of November 29. The Piston will not natively use SteamOS.
It was already difficult to watch the trailer for the upcoming Need for Speed movie without thinking of its star, Aaron Paul, as his Breaking Bad character Jesse Pinkman. And now, thanks to this dramatic (and spoiler-filled) mash-up video from Slacktory, it’ll be even more difficult. And while I’m not entirely serious with that headline……
A New Way: This is a friendly PSA to let you know that Wet Hot American Summer will be removed from Netflix streaming tomorrow, October 1. If you haven’t seen the comedy masterpiece (or just want to do a rewatch), fire it up tonight and see firsthand why it’s one of my very favorite movies.
By now, Assassin’s Creed fans know more or less what to expect from the game’s controls. Running, jumping, climbing, stabbing… they’re pretty established at this point. But what of the PS4’s touchpad? In this video, Revision3‘s Max Scoville shows us one way ACIV will use the touchpad. As it turns out, it’ll be keyed to…
