Playstation 3’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves lost some of its functionality today with developer Naughty Dog deciding to pull the plug on the ability to auto Tweet chapter completion. In an update on the Sony Playstation Blog, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells wrote that the decision to pull the plug on the feature was driven…
To: Ash From Crecente Re: And I Don’t Blink And I Just Keep Going And I Don’t Blink… We hit an interesting milestone during our coverage of the Tokyo Game Show last week: One billion pageviews since the site’s launch. Yes, with a B. How absurd is that? Now to get our readership up from…
Smaller, easier to use and completely devoid of a disc drive of any sort, the PSPgo is powered only by digital media, a brave step into the future of gaming. But is it a future in which we want to live? Loved Pure Digital: The PSPgo is smaller, sleeker, better designed than its predecessors, but…

One of the big things that’s different about the Toyo Game show is that it doesn’t just put up with children it actively works to attract them. One of the biggest draws to the dhow for children is the danced of children’s area which is packed with kid-friendly games, live action shows and mascots.
The United States may have given birth to video games, but it was Japan that brought them to life. Games like Space Invaders, Pac-Man and Donkey Kong introduced the concept of plot and character to something that started out as more diversion, more science in motion than art. From these deep gaming roots sprung an…
The Game Science Museum at the Tokyo Game Show this year housed not only video games but an exhibition of armor and helmets of Japan’s most popular warlords. The popular display, tucked away near the Level 5 and Koei Tecmo booths, also had some video games based on sengoku samurai.
Yesterday we ran round one of TGS Cosplay. Later we’ll run round two. Until then enjoy this picture of cosplayers unmasked, waiting to get their kit on before the show.
Last night Koei Tecmo threw a little party at the Hotel New Otani. They introduced all of their developers and pointed out that in the U.S. they are called Tecmo Koei, but in Japan they are called Tecmo Koei. They should probably figure that one out.
In Japan, Level 5 is an incredibly popular developer and publisher. Why? Because they’re behind Dragon Quest, Professor Layton, White Knight Chronicles and Jeanne d’Arc, to name a few. That explains the massive crowds sitting through presentations just to get a chance to get a chance to check out early copies of their upcoming releases.
There’s little we really know about the story that drives Dead Rising 2. Instead all we know so far amount to little more than pieces of a puzzle. Today, Capcom’s Keiji Inafune gave us another piece of the puzzle, explaining how a game show enters into the multiplayer portion of the game. During a press…
Ubisoft’s booth seemed fairly popular today among the masses, packing in gamers with the allure of Avatar, Red Steel 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction, to name just a few.
While the chance to finally get hands on Dead Rising 2 was the biggest draw to Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show press party, that’s probably not why people hung around. Capcom’s Keiji Inafune took to the stage in a leather replica of the biking jacket worn by the game’s protagonist Chuck Greene. He told the awaiting…
Earlier this week I had a chance to sit down and play a bit of Crackdown 2 multiplayer. It was, no pun intended, a blast. GameVideos shot some lovely video of the multiplayer mayhem in action. Check it out. Crackdown 2 TGS 2009 Deathmatch Gameplay [GameVideos]
Earlier this week I had a chance to sit down with Crackdown 2‘s multiplayer, leaping between towering buildings, and throwing cars at fellow agents in a city-roving free-for-all that felt like one part Halo and one part Tribes. A group of journalists gathered on the 25th floor of the New Otani Hotel in Japan to…
To: Owen From: Crecente It may be Friday night at Kotaku Tower and Saturday morning here in Japan, but that doesn’t mean that the news, reviews and pictures won’t continue to flow out of the Tokyo Game Show. We still have plenty, plenty to post. This morning marks the first public day of the Tokyo…
Chuck Greene is quite handy with a sword… and golf club… and beer bottles… and chainsaws on poles… and… well, you get the idea. In the 15 minutes or so that I spent running around inside a casino in Dead Rising 2 I manged to slice – both vertically and horizontally – club, shoot and…
Controller in hand, standing inches away from a flat panel running Dead Rising 2 at an event in a Tokyo cantina, the thing that most intrigued me about the game wasn’t the ability to slice zombies with a sword or beat them with anything from a wheelchair to a golf club, it was the duct…
As seen at Capcom’s Dead Rising 2 event in Tokyo.
This is the first year U.S. PC-maker Alienware has shown at the Tokyo Game Show. An Alienware spokesman told me that they expect a lot of interest in their high-end PC desktops, but even more interest in the gaming laptops that line the walls of the sizable booth.
