These games are getting festive for the spooky season

I’m not one for most special seasonal events in games, but the Halloween ones tend to be quite decent, and there are worse ways to spend the spooky season than sitting on the couch with a controller in your hand and a bucket of candy beside you.

My personal favorite annual gaming event for Halloween was the Festival of the Lost inside Destiny 2. Unfortunately, Sony decided to kill that game, sorta, and there are no more seasonal events. We also never got that rumored Astro Bot Halloween update I was really hoping for. Fortunately, there’s still plenty of other great video game ways to get into the spirit of Halloween. Here are nine of our favorites:

Pokémon Pokopia

Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises Halloween event is currently live in Pokémon Pokopia. Players can befriend the Pumpkin Pokémon Pumpkaboo and trade pumpkin candy for unique decor inspired by the midnight festival. Gourgeist will also be on the prowl. It’ll run until November 1.

Fortnite

Fortnitemares 2026 is packed. All your favorite horror IPs are here. You can fight Freddy Krueger at the Nightmare Neighborhood POI to claim his Freddy’s Nightmare claws or battle Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronics across the island to gain possession of their terrifying powers. There are also Trick or Treat cheat codes and a bunch of spooky power-ups. Nightmare Island returns with a refreshed map, while Stranger Things and Squid Games are also cycling through the rotations. It all runs until November 1.

Skate

Skate-O-Ween is live in EA’s free-to-play skateboard sim. Players can cross over to the Isle of Morg and explore a new warehouse, while dark alters that appear across the map can be activated for new challenges and special rewards. Plus there’s all the usual Halloween-themed stuff in the shop. The event runs through November 3.

Fallout 76

Spooky Scorched is back in Fallout 76. Players can visit camps to collect candy and get special rewards for the enemies they kill along the way. The online RPG’s current season also features thematically appropriate Slasher-worshipping cultists to hunt as players dig up graves and search for clues. A unique power armor set is one of the rewards. Spooky Scorched will be accessible through November 3.

Final Fantasy 14

All Saints’ Wake is a seasonal quest that has players hunt for a pumpkin-headed apparition. They need to be level 15 and can earn Grisly Bear cosmetics and decorations for their homes in the process. It runs until November 2.

Warframe

Nights of Naberus has returned once again. All month long, Warframe players can complete bounties to earn Mother Tokens and exchange them for festive skins, track down the Jack O’Naut foe in tactical alerts, and meet with the Void Trader’s vexing variant on the weekends to buy exotic wares. The event runs through November 2.

Gears of War: E-Day

Halloween has come to various multiplayer modes in Gears of War: E-Day. Trick-or-Treat Versus hides special weapons inside pumpkins and introduces the one-shot Jack-o-Cannon. There’s also new spooky-themed monsters in Horde Siege. Grinding will net you some cosmetic goodies as well. The event was set to end on October 27, but appears to still be live after the weekly update.

Marvel Rivals

All Hallows’ Glow 2026 is an event in which you complete special missions to unlock festive skins for Rocket Racoon, Scarlet Witch, and more. It runs from now until November 13.

Pokémon Go

Halloween Part 1 brings with it a series of special changes to the augmented-reality creature-catching mobile game. Some Pokémon will appear in spooky-themed costumes and new Trick or Treat! boxes will appear that you can tap for bonus rewards. The first leg of the event runs until November 1, followed by an encore later in the month.
