In case you missed it or were confused by its appearance in The Week in Games, Double Dragon IV is out for the PlayStation 4 and PC today. Arc System Works grabbed the rights back in 2015, recruited some of series’ original devs and made a new old game.
Planner Yoshihisa Kishimoto, designer Koji Ogata and composer Kazunaka Yamane from the original arcade release lent their talents to this fourth entry in the classic beat ‘em up series, picking up after the elimination of the Shadow Warriors in Double Dragon II.
Featuring looks that line up with the rest of the series, Double Dragon IV adds playable enemy characters, a one-on-one versus mode and a survival-style Tower mode, in which players see how long they can take on floor after floor of evil sprites.
It’s designed to look like an old game, and it’s priced like an old game. Double Dragon IV is available today on PlayStation 4 and Steam for $6.99.
